It has been 2 months since I had two types of facial contouring surgery from Dr. Shin Hee-jin at an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic~~ I had already undergone cheekbone surgery elsewhere in the past, but I was still bothered by my heavy-looking lower face, wide chin, slight asymmetry, and retruded chin. Especially whenever I looked at photos taken with the rear camera, I wasn’t satisfied, and it made me lose confidence and feel stressed. So I started looking into surgery again because I wanted to improve things properly this time~ Since I had orthodontic treatment in the past, I naturally leaned more toward oral and maxillofacial surgery, where they have a better understanding of oral structure, rather than a general plastic surgery clinic! This oral and maxillofacial clinic had many real reviews from various cases, so being able to compare different factors was a big advantageㅎㅎ To be honest, at first, because the clinic is well known as a double-jaw surgery specialty hospital, I wondered, “Would they also be good at facial contouring surgery?” But when I thought about it, facial contouring is a relatively easier surgery compared with double-jaw surgery, and seeing reviews where both function and aesthetics were satisfied actually made me trust them moreㅎㅎ What I felt during the consultation also had a big influence on my choice~ The consultant only explained what was necessary without any unnecessary extras, and there was no pressure at all, so I felt comfortable. The director explained in detail through X-ray imaging how much would be resected and what kind of result could be expected, which gave me trust! Among the places where I had consultations, this was the only hospital that even took X-rays, so it felt even more professional :) Also, the fact that an anesthesiology specialist is on-site and all staff members are nurses made me feel very reassured from a safety standpoint!!!! At 3 weeks after surgery, most of the major swelling had gone down, but there was still a little candy-like swelling. Sensation in my chin had not returned yet, and my lips were gradually recovering starting from the right side. Maybe because of the swelling, my chin sometimes looked split like a cleft chin, but I thought it would become more natural with time. The right jaw angle looked a little larger, but I also think this is due to swelling! The change in chin height was not more excessive than expected and looked natural, so I was satisfied. Most of all, the facial asymmetry and width of the chin, which had been my biggest concerns before surgery, clearly improved, so I was very satisfied. And now 2 months have passedㅎㅎ At first, right after surgery, my lower jaw felt heavy and tight, as if it were bound firmly with a rope, but that feeling has become much lighter!! The chin asymmetry has noticeably improved, and when viewed from the front, the swelling has also gone down considerably. There was still a slight catching sensation around the right jaw angle when I yawned or chewed food, but it is gradually easing over timeㅎㅎ Under the skin, I could still feel a little residual swelling, and the range of mouth opening stayed at about two fingers, but it is slowly improving~~ Through the two types of facial contouring surgery (chin tip + square jaw), I was so satisfied that the surgery balanced my overall face while creating a natural change. Especially as my wide and asymmetric chin clearly improved, I now feel confident not only from the front but also when taking selfies with the rear camera!! Before surgery, I worried that the change might look too artificial, but now people around me often say that my face has naturally become slimmer and that my impression looks much softer, so I think it was a really good choice~~ Most of all, even though it was facial contouring surgery, they performed the surgery while considering functional aspects such as occlusion and the temporomandibular joint, as well as aesthetic aspects, so I’m very excited because I think it will settle even more beautifully and comfortably as time passes!
