1-Month Review After Double-Jaw Surgery + 2 Types of Facial Contouring

Hello, it has already been 1 month since I had double-jaw surgery + square jaw and chin tip surgery. The biggest reason I decided to have double-jaw surgery was because I had a severe congenital malocclusion. Since I was young, my jaws did not align, so I had discomfort with chewing and pronunciation, and I also had many insecurities about my appearance. In particular, I had both facial asymmetry and a protruding lower jaw impression, so through this surgery, I wanted to improve both function and appearance. So while looking for a hospital, I had a consultation at “Yangyundol Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.” The facilities seemed systematic, they consulted with me kindly, and the aftercare seemed well managed, so I decided to have it done there. The recovery process was very difficult. As with many other people, the first week was the hardest period. The swelling increased, it was difficult to swallow saliva, and I could not sleep properly, so it was really hard. But as time passed, it gradually got better, and by weeks 3 to 4, the swelling had noticeably gone down. There is still some residual swelling, so it will take more time for it to go down completely, but I can feel that I am improving day by day. The biggest thing I feel after surgery is, “I’m so glad I had the surgery.” The malocclusion, which was the main purpose of the surgery, is gone. I am not fully used to it yet, but the discomfort of my jaw shifting out of place when chewing is gone. My facial shape also changed a lot, my facial asymmetry improved significantly, and the balance of my face became much better. People around me also often say that my impression has become softer. It has only been 1 month, so there is still some residual swelling, and the hospital also explained that it would take another 3 to 6 months for the swelling to completely go down and for everything to settle into place. Still, seeing this much change in just one month, I am very satisfied. Double-jaw surgery was by no means an easy decision, and the recovery process was not exactly smooth either. However, for those who are suffering from severe malocclusion, or those who have insecurities about their appearance like I did, I would like to say that it is definitely a surgery worth considering.
