Lowering the eyelid line

There are broadly two methods for surgery to lower the eye line. Both methods can only be done with an incision. 1. Skin excision As the name suggests, this is a surgical method where adhesions are released while part of the skin is excised. Since skin is removed, it can help in cases with severe scarring, but the surgical conditions have to be suitable. There needs to be some extra eyelid skin to begin with, and the distance between the eye and eyebrow shouldn’t be too close. I heard that if it’s too close, the eye shape can become strange. Also, they say this method is mainly more suitable when you’re not lowering the line very much. The clinics I went to for consultations said around 1-2 mm is appropriate. After all, you can’t just cut off all the skin to lower the line. As a side effect, lagophthalmos can occur, and if something goes wrong, it’s hard to reverse. 2. Creating a second line Creating a second line is a method where they ignore the existing double eyelid line and make a new incision at the line you want to lower it to. As the name suggests, scars remain as two lines. If the current scar is relatively okay, the line needs to be lowered a lot, and there isn’t extra skin to excise, then they do the two-line method. Not everyone says this, but the clinics I consulted with described the two-line method as feeling like a last resort. Maybe because two scar lines are left.. But for directors with good hand skills who are good at it, there are actually many cases where it’s less obvious than expected that there are two lines. Eye surgery is considered one of the easier types of cosmetic surgery, but surgery to lower the line is quite difficult. So don’t take it lightly and just go to places that are roughly famous for non-incisional suture methods.
