Surgery date: July 30, 2025 Surgical method: chin advancement surgery Concerns: retruded chin, protruding mouth Pain: almost no pain (only anesthesia aftereffects on the day of surgery) I had always had a lot of concerns about my retruded chin. Whenever I looked in the mirror, I felt like I had no chin, so every time I took photos, my side profile came out disappointing, and that kept bothering me. I also had a protruding mouth, and even though I am on the thin side, my chin was set inward, so it looked like I had a double chin I had even gone for orthodontic consultations because I wanted braces, but after hearing that orthodontic treatment has limitations for correcting a retruded chin, I visited Yang Yoon Dol with the thought that I should at least get a consultation! Actually, I did not look into other hospitals! Honestly, I did not think the prices would differ much, and with the light mindset of just getting a consultation first, I visited Yang Yoon Dol, which I had heard was the most famous! After consulting with the director, I decided on surgery right away that same day. The reason I chose Yang Yoon Dol was, first of all, because after seeing the surgical case photos they showed me, I thought, “This is exactly the surgery I had been looking for.” Even advancing only the chin tip made the protruding-mouth appearance disappear to some extent, and the blunt impression typical of a retruded chin went away too. Also, when the director consulted with me, he explained accurately and in detail how far my chin needed to come forward, what kind of face shape I had, and how it would change. He seemed to have a lot of surgical experience, so I trusted him! I had the surgery exactly one week after the consultation! This is the surgery review everyone is probably most curious about! I was extremely nervous on the day of surgery, but all the nurses were very kind, so I relaxed a lot. I was lying down comfortably, and after anesthesia, when I opened my eyes, I was in the recovery room After deciding on surgery, the two things I worried about most were pain and swelling. First, there was almost no pain after surgery! It just felt slightly tight? I did not feel like it hurt! However, it was my first time having general anesthesia, so on the evening of surgery, I was so dizzy and felt like I was going to throw up that I could not do anything and just lay down and slept the whole time. Second, as for swelling, at first you really cannot see the chin well. It is very swollen, and because of the taping, it just feels like the chin area has become huge. They said I probably swelled a bit more because I had double osteotomy and my chin was brought quite far forward! The period after removing the tape about 4 days after surgery is the hardest? stage appearance-wise I really looked like a chin-heavy character, so I even wondered if I had done the surgery for nothing But after enduring that period for about a week? it gradually started settling into place! After about 2 weeks, it is at least enough to walk around without a mask! My swelling went down really quickly, so as a tip: use the compression band, do cold compresses a lot, and definitely walk a lot!! Until 3 days after surgery, I walked only about 10,000 steps, and from day 4 onward, I walked around 15,000 to 20,000 steps in place! Now, one month after surgery, I am truly so satisfied For people like me with a retruded chin + protrusion, I really absolutely recommend chin advancement surgery! I am so happy that my protruding appearance disappeared because my chin came forward, and when I take photos, I really look like a different person I do not have much cheek fat, so my cheek hollowing got a bit worse and I am gaining weight, but people who have cheek fat may also see a slimming effect!!
