Nose Surgery Reviews

Reviews from consultations at 2 ENT clinics and 2 plastic surgery clinics for functional rhinoplasty

Hello. I was considering functional rhinoplasty and went around for consultations, but each place is still saying different things, so I’m still debating ̑̈ (All four hospitals answered all my questions kindly!) 1. ㅋㅂㅈ Maybe because it’s a plastic surgery clinic, the consultation seemed to focus more on aesthetics than function. During the consultation, they showed me a virtual surgery simulation? on an iPad and explained the direction and method of surgery in detail. -> They said my nose has no muscle, and both my septal cartilage and ear cartilage are small, so I would need autologous costal cartilage (they said they only use autologous costal cartilage because of side effects) + 4 mm silicone. The cost, including rhinitis surgery, was 8 million won, but they said they could reduce it to 7.8 million won if I put down a deposit. It was higher than I expected, so surgery was not possible,,, 2. ㅊㄷㅊ This place also seemed to put more weight on aesthetics. Before the consultation, they showed me a video explaining the names and functions of nasal parts and the surgery, which was nice. They explained the nasal areas and surgical methods in an easy-to-understand way, and while touching my nose, they honestly said that even if they made my nose straight, because my facial asymmetry is severe, it would not be easy to achieve overall harmony, but they would still try to match it as much as possible. -> They said the same thing as the hospital above: no nasal muscle, cartilage cannot be used, and I would need autologous costal cartilage or donated costal cartilage. The total, including rhinitis surgery, was 9.8 million won, but surgery wasn’t possible on the date I wanted and the cost was expensive, so I passed. 3. ㅅㅅㄷㄹ ENT, Samsung branch Maybe because it’s an ENT clinic, they talked more about the functional aspects. They explained things in detail and kindly answered all my questions, which was nice. At the plastic surgery clinics I visited, they said my septal cartilage was too small, so I would need donated costal cartilage or autologous costal cartilage, but here they said my septal cartilage was a usable size and suggested using septal cartilage, so I was surprised. Because I have a deviated septum, they would reduce the inside of the nose with radiofrequency for rhinitis surgery, shave down the nasal bridge, put septal cartilage in the nasal tip, tie the cartilage, and correct the crooked nose. For the nasal bridge, silicone or dermis, 3 mm-3.5 mm. It was nice that they explained the surgical direction and method in detail. -> Rhinitis surgery + septal cartilage + silicone or functional dermis = total 5 million won 4. ㄱㄹㅅ ENT They first told me that if I strongly preferred aesthetics, I should consider plastic surgery. The director’s explanation was simple, but the consultant’s counseling was more detailed, and it was nice that she also shared her own experience. -> Rhinitis surgery + septal cartilage + MegaDerm 3-3.5 mm = 5 million won I got a lot of help from this community, so I tried writing a review too =) But when I looked up side effects of MegaDerm, there were so many, and I’m also worried about silicone side effects, so I’m debating all kinds of things. At this rate, I feel like I won’t be able to get surgery ̑̈
