This is my real 1-month review after receiving double-jaw surgery + facial contouring surgery performed by Director Shin Hee-jin at EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery! Since I knew from a young age that I had malocclusion and a protruding jaw, I had decided that I definitely wanted to get double-jaw surgery once I became an adult. At first, I made the decision for cosmetic reasons, but as I experienced improvements in pronunciation as well as occlusion and chewing function, I became convinced that this surgery was not simply cosmetic, but was also a necessary choice for me from a functional standpoint. When choosing a hospital, one of my acquaintances had undergone surgery at EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, so I received a direct recommendation from that acquaintance that it was a trustworthy hospital. After that, through searching and reading reviews, I found out that it was already a hospital with proven skill, so I decided to have surgery here, where the directors have abundant surgical experience and can be trusted. The first week after surgery was difficult because it was hard to breathe and my face hurt a lot, but as I gradually recovered, I received swelling treatment and started to feel changes in my facial shape. After discharge, breathing became easier and my body felt much lighter, to the point that I could go for walks. As sensation returned to my cheeks and under my eyes and I became able to speak little by little, I could drink water from a cup, go out wearing a mask, and resume daily life, which gave me great comfort! In the second week, after having the stitches removed and starting mouth-opening exercises, it became easier to speak even while wearing the wafer, and the restrictions on daily life decreased enough that I could go to a cafe with a friend. Around the third week, the pain and numbness had decreased a lot, I could sleep on my side, and the swelling had gone down enough for me to go out without a mask, so I became much more comfortable. Now, before I knew it, 1 month has passed since the surgery. I still have some swelling, but my mouth movement has become much freer, and I have recovered functionally enough to eat foods like fried rice. I am hoping the swelling will go down quickly. In this way, double-jaw and facial contouring surgery is a surgery that improves not only appearance but also various functions such as pronunciation, chewing, and breathing. For people like me who are concerned about a protruding jaw and malocclusion, I think it can become a decisive turning point that improves quality of life. In fact, I experienced major benefits including improved pronunciation, improved chewing function, improved facial asymmetry, improved breathing, and restored self-confidence! Thank you, Director Shin, for helping me improve both aesthetically and functionally haha
