~~6-month review with Director Shin at Iyoo Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!~ I was born with poor temporomandibular joint function and severe jaw asymmetry, so I had a lot of concerns since I was young. I’ve even had someone ask me, upon first meeting, why my face looked like that, and I hated the asymmetric shape of my jaw in photos so much that from puberty onward, I hardly took any pictures. Because of that, I started thinking that I didn’t really like myself very much, and I wanted to take lots of photos and leave behind pretty memories from now on, so I eventually decided to have surgery! When choosing a hospital, I visited Iyoo Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery just to get a consultation after a teacher I know recommended it, but Director Shin Hee-jin was far more systematic than I expected and explained in detail the areas that needed attention, so I decided on this place right away!! At 1 month after surgery, my recovery was fast enough that I only had to wear the wafer while sleeping. I still couldn’t eat hard foods, but I slowly tried foods soft enough to be mashed by hand. My upper and lower teeth didn’t fit together perfectly yet, so chewing was somewhat uncomfortable, but I could feel that it had become much more comfortable than before. At 2 months, I stopped using the wafer and only wore elastics. Opening and closing my mouth felt a little awkward, but there was no discomfort, and as long as I avoided hard foods, I could eat most things well. Thanks to that, the weight I had lost was gradually coming back^^..;; Still, my overall satisfaction was high~~ At 3 months, I had no problems at all opening and closing my mouth, and I could chew hard foods to some extent, so almost all discomfort while eating disappeared. I especially liked that I bit my cheeks or tongue less often while eating. However, sensation in my upper gums had not fully returned, so a slightly tingling feeling remained! At 4 months, since I was undergoing orthodontic treatment, there was almost no discomfort from the surgery except for food getting stuck in my teeth. In particular, I felt relieved because the gum sensation I had been worried about was gradually returning, but I hoped it would recover completely soon haha. Now that 5 months have passed and I’m currently at 6 months, the gum sensation, which the hospital had said had no definite timeline for recovery, has almost completely returned, so I felt really relieved. I’ve also been diligently keeping up with orthodontic treatment and brushing my teeth, and it really does seem like teeth have a tendency to return to their original position, so I decided to continue my orthodontic treatment even more diligently from now on~ I’m so happy these days because my jaw asymmetry and overall facial asymmetry were improved at Iyoo Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery! Thank you, Director Shin Hee-jin! I’ll leave another review at 7 months too! Then bye for now~!!
