Hello. It has already been 6 months since my two-jaw surgery for bite misalignment. I'm writing a review of the journey so far. I hope it helps people who are considering surgery like I was! Concerns before surgery Because of my bite misalignment, my jaw gradually started protruding from middle school, and I lived with my teeth biting the wrong way around. From the front, my jaw looked long like a jaw-protruding face, and from the side it looked flat without any depth, with the jaw sticking out, which was a complex of mine, so I was always busy hiding my face with my hair.. After becoming an adult, I started orthodontic treatment and made a surgery plan. Since this was for medical rather than cosmetic reasons, I planned to have the surgery at an oral and maxillofacial surgery department rather than a plastic surgery clinic. In the end, I had two-jaw surgery and contouring type 2 (square jaw + chin) at Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which also has orthodontics! First of all, functionally, my bite is now aligned normally, so I don't lisp when speaking, and I can chew food well, which also helps digestion! More than anything, I feel more confident about my appearance, and I love that I no longer have to hide my face:) People around me also say my face has become much smaller, prettier, and that they want to get it too, so those reactions make me happy and my self-esteem has gone up a lot! It's now been 6 months, and I'm doing well with no discomfort at all! I yawn with my mouth wide open, but it doesn't hurt. The only thing is that I'm still in orthodontic treatment, so I can eat everything except tough meat or hard foods like almonds. Since I eat well, my weight has gone back to what it was before surgery,, I'm living with no major restrictions and feeling very satisfied. Before surgery, my mouth was always unable to close and stayed open, so I even slept with my mouth open and was always drooling,, but now that my bite is normal, it closes well and there is no more discomfort, so I'm extremely satisfied. The swelling has also gone down a lot compared to the 3-month mark, and I can see that it keeps settling and becoming more natural. There were so many inconveniences before surgery, so now that they've all been resolved, I'm living happily. Sometimes when I look at old photos, I get startled.. My impression has become so much softer and more natural!
