This post is about ★me, an individual, who paid 9.5 million KRW at a clinic called Kobijou and underwent revision surgery for the items below (fact), and the result is shown in the photos above (fact). I felt the following disappointments about the result (consumer opinion)★
[Procedures received] Correction of deviated nose, nostril lowering, osteotomy, silicone implant replacement, septal extension (using autologous costal cartilage), alar reduction (right side only), nasolabial angle correction (autologous costal cartilage) Total: about 9.5 million KRW
[Disappointments I feel 1 year after surgery] ㆍUpturned nasal tip ㆍNostril asymmetry ㆍBalance between the columella and alae (nasal wings) ㆍNasolabial angle that disappeared (compared with immediately after surgery) ㆍRight-angled nasal bridge (an unnatural bridge where the nasal tip suddenly rises in an L-shape) ㆍNasal bridge that still looks crooked
※ These are my personal opinions and may differ from other people’s thoughts/results. =============================
[Additional details / Review = false facts? Defamation?] From here on: after I left the above review in this community, after around two months? Kobijou, which had been ignoring my questions, contacted me about a lawsuit. The reason was defamation through spreading false facts.
For reference, when I was about 1.5 months post-op, I once vented on social media about nostril asymmetry. Even then, they said it was asymmetry caused by swelling because it was still early, and said I was spreading false facts and defaming them. So I took the post down. The reason was not because of the lawsuit, but because I knew, as common sense, that swelling takes about 6 months... and that you need to wait a year to see the nose shape fully settle, so I gritted my teeth and endured it. The result is still asymmetry, the nose is upturned, the columella is curled inward, and when I said the nasolabial angle had disappeared, now they say it is because of lip filler, not swelling?
[Factual situation] Immediately after surgery at Kobijou, I complained that the left nostril lowering had not come down enough, causing nostril asymmetry, and that the deviated nose still looked crooked. From about 3 months later, the nose began to turn upward. Also, the nasolabial angle that had been corrected to improve protrusive lips gradually disappeared, and at the same time, due to the combined issues, my philtrum looked longer, so I received lip filler. I got the lip filler in January of this year, after the above adverse issues had already occurred, 7 to 8 months after surgery at Kobijou.
[Image manipulation?] So I cropped out the lip area, which had received lip filler and was unrelated to the rhinoplasty, and reposted it. Then the hospital said I had manipulated the image, that the deformation came from receiving another procedure (meaning lip filler), and that not uploading pre-op photos was manipulation and distribution of false facts and defamation, so they would sue me and I had to delete it immediately. I received this hard-to-accept, coercive contact.
[Other hospitals’ opinions] Kobijou said they had added 6 mm of my costal cartilage for nasolabial angle correction... The issue is that, according to palpation and CT scans at other hospitals, this did not seem to be the case. I did not hear from any place that the problem was the filler★ In addition, some hospitals even said the phenomenon of my nasal tip lifting raised suspicion of contracture.
[False facts? no! yes, truth] This post is my consumer opinion about the 3-week and 1-year progress after rhinoplasty received at this clinic. I have never had surgery that touches the philtrum, and the only additional procedure I received was lip filler. I even contacted you about this in February of this year. I complained. I said my nasal tip was lifted, making my philtrum look longer, so I was covering it with lip filler. I am attaching KakaoTalk screenshots sent to the hospital.
[In conclusion, cosmetic-surgery patient satisfaction = surgical result] ★Why, why, why, why does Kobijou think that the [surgical result] means how much better it became compared with before surgery?★ Also, by what right are they forcing me to upload my pre-op photos? Did Kobijou and I sign a promotional model contract before surgery? No. Why are they telling me to upload my private personal information... And if they want to compare the result with before surgery, then it would be reasonable to charge the surgery fee only in proportion to how much it improved compared with before surgery.
As a consumer, I ordered 9.5 million KRW worth of work, and if they received a 9.5 million KRW order, then the [result] means how close the outcome came to ★the order I gave the hospital before surgery, saying, “Please make it like this.” That is consumer satisfaction = result. How much it improved compared with my previous nose was not my request★
★[Need to upload pre-op photos]★ I do not feel that need. To explain in more detail, my fact is not about how much it improved compared with before surgery, so the hospital cannot force me to upload pre-op photos, and I have no obligation to comply. Anyone here who is curious about my pre-op photos can go to the hospital and check! Since those are medical records the hospital has, they should show them to patients who visit!
The point of the post and the important points for both sides are different. I think saying they will sue because I wrote and spread false facts is a threat from the hospital.
I have never spread false facts, but receiving lawsuit-related contact from the hospital made me feel like even my freedom of expression was being taken away. ★So I thought it would be better to go to Gangnam Police Station and be investigated, because then I could explain how wronged I feel. I have told the hospital not to contact me anymore and to proceed with the lawsuit★
[When everyone judges] If you are curious about the hospital’s position on why this kind of surgery had to be done and why this kind of result occurred, ★I recommend asking Kobijou directly★
[Going forward] Because I want to know more accurately the cause and reason why surgery at Kobijou could not achieve the result I wanted, and why adverse effects occurred after one year, I am currently gathering materials through consultations at other hospitals. If I undergo revision surgery, I will find out what kind of surgery was performed inside my nose. I want to continue adding that as well.
[My comparison photos] ※ The comparison photos are materials taken by another person with a regular camera, divided into front, 45-degree, and full side views, comparing 3 weeks after surgery at Kobijou Clinic and my current appearance after about 1 year. At 10 to 11 months post-op, I personally visited Kobijou Clinic, met my assigned manager, had my current nose condition photographed, and communicated the problems I was feeling. At that time, they said they would provide after-service, but during that process I heard that it was not due to a medical mistake but due to my dissatisfaction, which made me question the hospital’s hospitality, so I refused.
