*Surgery I had Closed rhinoplasty (cartilage tying + nasal tip (ear cartilage) + step-off reinforcement + bulbous nose correction + hump refinement) *Special notes during surgery I’ve always been the type who doesn’t respond well to anesthesia and wakes up easily, so in the end I had the surgery while awake. I did have local anesthesia, so it didn’t hurt, but it was difficult. Day 1 (same day) There was no swelling or bruising, but my throat hurt so much. More than anything else, I couldn’t breathe because of the cotton packing, so I couldn’t sleep or eat, and it was really hard. Because of a tape allergy, all the skin around my eyes peeled and hurt like a burn, so I applied steroid ointment and used ice packs. Blood pooled in the scalp above my ear, making squelching sounds, and it hurt like crazy. Day 2 The swelling and bruising came up slightly, and my throat got better. After they removed the cotton packing, I felt like I could live again, but my ear was throbbing and the nasal tip also had sharp tingling pain. My nose kept running, so I only wiped what was flowing with tissue, but the inside of my nose was itchy and tingling. When they removed the packing, I got an antibiotic injection, but because I got it on an empty stomach, I felt dizzy and like I was going to throw up. I couldn’t walk, so I lay down at the hospital before coming back. My nose looked slightly upturned, so I asked about it, and they said it was overcorrected and would come down soon. The scalp area above my ear throbbed like it was bruised. Day 3 The swelling and bruising peaked. My ear hurt too, my nose tingled more often, and it was so itchy. They said they’ll remove the splint 4 days after the day the cotton packing was removed, but I really want to take it off quickly. My nose is running so much. Even when I sleep while using ice packs, the swelling is insane. I spent the whole day only looking up closed rhinoplasty reviews, and I suddenly regretted it because I feel like I’ll have to live babying my nose.
