Photo order Before - Day 1 - Week 1 - Week 2 - 1 month - 6 months - 1 year [Reason I decided to have surgery] I decided to have surgery because of a protruding jaw + facial asymmetry. While getting surgical consultations, I was told at an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic that acromegaly was suspected, so I got tested and found out that I actually had the condition. Because of that, my double-jaw surgery was delayed by a year, but I was lucky that it could be discovered. In my case, my facial shape started changing from my third year of middle school, and I think this was probably why. After confirming that I had fully recovered following that surgery, I had double-jaw surgery one year later. [Criteria for choosing the hospital] 1. It had to be a private clinic 2. Whether there was a doctor with expertise in double-jaw surgery 3. Whether there was an anesthesiology specialist I mainly looked at things like these, and in the end I decided on the ㅆㅂㅋㅇ hospital. While reading the doctor’s blog, I could feel his expertise and passion in the way he continued researching surgical techniques. There is a lot of really good information about double-jaw surgery on the blog, so even if you do not have surgery here, I recommend reading it at least once. When I met him for a consultation, he answered many of my questions clearly, and his bold, open personality gave me confidence, so I decided on this place. [Surgery chosen] The surgeries I had were double-jaw surgery + cheekbone reduction. It was a decision made with overall facial harmony in mind, and since I had them done together, I received a slightly discounted price. [Day of surgery] Since I only had to be hospitalized for one day, I did not bring much with me. I changed clothes, waited a little in the hospital room, and then went to the operating room. The surgery took about 2 to 3 hours. After waking up, I barely felt any pain. But for about an hour after waking up, I felt nauseated and it was hard. According to my parents, I also threw up lol... Anyway, after that I was okay. Since I have a bad lower back, lying flat on my back was the hardest part, and other than when they removed the blood drains, everything else was fine. [Week 1] day 1 I was discharged the very next day. Swelling The swelling on the first day after surgery was surprisingly not severe. The tape was still on, and it was not yet the time for the swelling to come up, so I only thought that my face had gotten smaller. Diet Instead of New Care, I drank a patient drink called New Protein and liquids like beef bone broth. The blue New Protein tasted good. What was uncomfortable It was hard because I had to sleep lying on my back. I usually sleep on my side... Still, I somehow managed to fall asleep with my arm as a pillow. What was good There was no pain. I was just a person with a swollen face. day 2 I woke up in the morning, spat out bloody phlegm, washed my face with wet wipes, and gargled. Swelling It swelled more, and I could feel my cheeks getting heavy. I kept applying ice packs. I barely used the facial compression band. It was annoying and did not seem to fit my face either lol Diet I had seaweed soup and cream soup. What was uncomfortable Now I had to go get laser treatment to reduce swelling, but I had to wear a mask, so it was hot. Because of my swollen cheeks, saliva kept flowing out too. I had to keep sucking it in. And I was hungry. Brushing my teeth was annoying too. What was good The bloody phlegm stopped from the evening. Now I no longer had breathing difficulty. Also, after going to the hospital and receiving care, my mouth closed better and I could speak better too. day 3 Sensation around the side of my nose and upper jaw had recovered to some extent. Especially on the right side, it had almost returned. My lower jaw sometimes had a tingling sensation, so it felt like the sensation was recovering. I received laser treatment again today. I also went to the gym. I walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes, but my head hurt, so I stopped. Going up the stairs became less tiring. Swelling Now my mouth closes. From the afternoon, I could breathe through my nose too, so I felt like I could finally live. Diet Galbitang broth, New Protein, orange juice, Baskin-Robbins chocolate ice cream cup What was uncomfortable I was so hungry What was good Many things became more comfortable. Before surgery, I had been told they would minimize the wounds and surgery time, and I really do feel like recovery is fast. [Week 2] A lot of the swelling went down. Daily life becomes more comfortable now. I can eat some food now too. But you may feel a bit anxious about whether you are recovering well. [Week 3] It is another difficult phase. Now I have to wear a retainer, so I cannot eat anything with solid pieces. I am hungry. I blend things as much as possible and eat them. The area beside my nose hurt, so I thought it was inflammation, but fortunately it was normal pain. [Week 4] Now I can take out the appliance when eating haha [2 months] I start orthodontic treatment. The swelling is almost all gone. Since I was not eating meals, I lost weight too, so I think my face looks even slimmer. My stamina has recovered enough that I can start my part-time job again! [3 months] I hear a lot that I look younger. I am satisfied. People around me are slowly forgetting what my old face looked like. [6 months] I live forgetting that I had surgery. [1 year] After about 10 months, I had the braces removed. The dentist tells me to wear the retainer all day.. but it is not easy lol My relationships get better and I gain confidence. I start dating too. Since I will soon be getting a job, I am hurriedly going to have the pins removed next week, and once the pins are removed, it will really be over. I feel this as I write the review, but I really think it was a good decision to do it. I think it is a dramatic surgery that changes not only your face but also your personality, confidence, relationships, and entire life. (Thank you, doctor.. bow). I guess getting rid of a complex really has a huge impact. [Current surgical result and condition, exactly 1 year later] Result: Protruding jaw disappeared Symmetrical facial line Life-changing outcome Current condition: There is an uneven area on the jaw. It will be smoothed during pin removal The only thing is that sensation in my right lower jaw has still not fully returned. It seems to be returning rather late, so I think I need to see after pin removal. Conclusion: Very satisfied. Even if I went back, I think I would do it again. It would be perfect once sensation fully recovers. It is an expensive surgery, but it can achieve results that are difficult to create with other surgeries. The facial shape changes a lot. If your facial shape is a complex, I recommend looking into it carefully and doing it.
