Review of my final nose revision surgery

As of today, it’s been exactly about 50 days since my fourth revision rhinoplasty, and I’m sharing my review and all the awful hardship I went through in the hope that many people who read this can get even a little comfort and resolve the concerns they’re struggling with (because I was the same). 1) First, my nose had a high bridge and people used to ask if I’d had nose surgery, but because I was greedy about how it looked like a bulbous nose from the front, I’ll list how many times I touched my nose. At the first hospital where I had surgery: closed rhinoplasty twice, open rhinoplasty once. Now I’ve finished revision surgery at a different hospital (long-nose correction, crooked nose, no implant). The hospital where I first had nose surgery was fairly well-known too, and I went to that doctor because I heard they had newly opened a clinic. 1) For my very first nose surgery, my nasal bridge was on the high side, so I only had alar reduction and nasal tip surgery with a closed approach using nasal cartilage, but it collapsed. 2) For the second revision, with a closed approach, they used septal cartilage and tied the nasal tip cartilage, but a step-off formed on my perfectly fine nasal bridge? The septal cartilage was crooked and protruding inside my nose. It had been crooked originally too, but thinking about it now, it just became even more crooked. This place didn’t even take a CT scan and did it only by the doctor’s eyeballing. I was young and job-hunting, so my bank account wasn’t in good shape, and the low surgery cost there at the time also played a part. For the last revision there, I paid around 1 million or 1.5 million won. 3) The third revision was done open. They said they would put the thinnest silicone in the nasal bridge to remove the step-off and correct the deviation, but as time passed, the nasal tip dropped, and since I have a long face and the starting point of the silicone was high, my nose started to look long. The crookedness? It was not corrected at all no matter what.. My nose got even more crooked.. haha From the side, my nasal line was just straight.. ha.. After seriously going around to so many consultations like crazy, for this revision, they removed the silicone from the nasal bridge and used autologous dermis? from the autologous costal cartilage area, and the nasal tip was done with autologous costal cartilage. I thought they would use dermis from the buttock, but they said they would do it while harvesting the autologous costal cartilage, so that was a huge plus. 2) My current condition after the revision Seriously lol I think it was the first time I could see all the way to the end of the cave inside my nostrils.. I can breathe well too. When the doctor checked my progress after surgery, they said the materials were all mixed up, the septal cartilage was completely crooked, and that it had been quite difficult. First of all, even if the crooked nose couldn’t be fixed 100%, I hoped it could at least be improved functionally (breathing was hard because of the deviated septum). I wanted the side line to be saved and for my nose to stop looking long from the front, and honestly more than 90% of it was corrected to a level I’m satisfied with.. When they checked my progress after nose surgery, even on CT, the nasal bone had been corrected straight.. Thank you.. And the area where autologous costal cartilage was harvested: I really have almost no pain, and the time when cotton was packed in my nose felt like death. Because my skin is fair, I worried a lot about the autologous costal cartilage scar, but it healed well, and I’m managing it by continuously applying and attaching things like silicone scar gel. And after my revision surgery, once the splint came off, the mental spiral turned on lol Even knowing it was swelling, I wondered whether it made sense to have paid this much for a revision. Still, I’m not even a particularly sensitive person, so I just waited for time to pass.. In my case, the silicone had even been placed close to the glabella, so the swelling lasted a long time, and it’s still going down now. My skin tissue is on the thick side, so the swelling started to noticeably go down from one month. Right now I like both the shape and line of my nose from the front, and I’m really relieved that even the functional issues were addressed. 3) To everyone planning nose surgery Is your nose crooked? And is it also bulbous? If you feel you absolutely must have surgery, seriously do both online research and in-person consultations like crazy. Review photos? Never trust them blindly. It’s important to go in person, get a CT scan, and see whether they clearly identify the problems with your nose. And you need to properly understand why your nose is crooked, whether it’s a deviated septum, etc. This is absolutely not something to take lightly. If you search around this community, you’ll find many cases where even after nose surgery the columella is still crooked, and many of the side effects I experienced come up. With the nose, once you touch it, that’s it. Before going through all this, I also blocked out warnings thinking, “It won’t happen to me,” and I ended up here. Don’t just go to places with pretty reviews. The most important thing is a doctor who immediately catches and identifies problems while looking at your preoperative CT + a doctor whose aesthetic sense matches what I want. Because every person’s appearance is different, even if a nose looks pretty in a review, that nose may not suit me, and depending on skin thickness, nasal bone, etc., the actual results vary enormously. And please, let go of greed. What I regret most is touching my nose. It started just because I wanted my nasal tip to look a little prettier, and now from my mid-20s to my early 30s, I’ve wasted time and money, and I regret it so much, but since it was my choice, who can I blame? The revision surgery went well and I like it, but even now I don’t think I can feel completely at ease, so I’m continuing to manage it. Please, even after hearing my story, if you’re going to get nose surgery, think ten times and a hundred times. No, just don’t do it.. Cosmetic surgery is something where even if someone else succeeds, I can fail, and even if I succeed, someone else can fail. It’s truly an endless loop. If you’re desperate, I hope you yourself work hard and go to consultations.. But even though I say this and plead like this, I know the people who will do it will still do it..... Please.....look into it carefully...... + The hospital where I had my first surgery.. Just looking at the reviews, it’s revision surgery guaranteed.. When I see, “They did it like this again,” it turns out to be that doctor. Ha, seriously. I want to stop people from going there... If the line looks a bit pretty there, it means your nose would look pretty with just silicone. After doing this for years, I’ve become a nose expert. I feel like I can tell just by looking at photos. + Alar reduction? Don’t take it lightly.. During my very first surgery, they reduced my alae unevenly, so when viewed from the side, one nostril shows a little more.. haha..
