Lately I haven’t had anything to do at home, haha. So I’m posting the next-day update too. Haha. I kept it a secret from my friends, so I can’t even tell them, and I’m dying to spill it. lol The morning after surgery! I woke up in the state of a mudskipper, beyond a goldfish, haha. As expected, there was no real pain, just some tightness in the back of my neck, so I’m careful when I tilt my head back. When I lie down or bend my head down, I need to support my neck with one hand to feel stable. lol I drank pumpkin juice and ate sweet pumpkin porridge made by my mom. (My mouth wouldn’t open, so it probably still took me an hour to eat. T_T) I took the medicine the hospital gave me, (they gave me a 7-day supply) Since my mouth wouldn’t open well, it was funny having to slip the pills between my teeth one by one. lol It was the day I was supposed to go to the hospital to remove the compression bandage. They told me to come around 11, so I passed the time by watching some TV. Haha. I usually don’t watch TV much, but while doing ice compresses, I watched the current season of High Kick, and it was more entertaining than I expected. I just kept smiling and time passed easily, which was nice. lol Then I went to the hospital with my mom. Even with a hoodie on and a mask pulled over, the swelling bandage covers a surprisingly large area, so a little still shows;; (I was still very swollen and the bandage made me self-conscious, so it was a bit hard to use public transportation alone;;) As soon as I got there, they removed the compression bandage and treated my face with laser? so I just lay there and dozed off. Haha. Then they washed my hair. Haha. After removing the bandage and washing my hair... ah, it felt so refreshing. lol Then I got an antibiotic shot in my butt (this one hurts. lol) and an injection to reduce swelling. I saw the director, and they removed one more piece of tape from each side of the face area (under the ears) (it was stuck to my hair too, so it hurt a bit;). lol When I saw the director, they said I wasn’t that swollen. The left side had more bone and the right side had more muscle, but since the left bone wasn’t wide apart even though it was bigger, they shaved roughly the same amount from both sides of the bone, and they removed more muscle from the right side. (It had been a bit asymmetric to begin with) After removing the bandage and taking off both pieces of tape, the compression tape was only around the chin area, so even with just a mask it was completely covered. lol I didn’t even need to pull the hoodie up. lol But... what I’m a little worried about is.. The left side of my lip is still numb and tingling, and they said it could come back as soon as 1-2 weeks, but if it’s late, it might take up to a year.. Maybe the director was worried too, because they told me to come back again in two days. (Usually you go on day 6 to get the stitches out) I’m just bored all day anyway, so I’m looking forward to going to the hospital, getting laser treatment, and having all the compression tape around the chin removed that day. I think I’ll be able to open my jaw more that day too. When I got home, I was hungry again (my body seems to be feeling okay now, so I can feel hunger too) so I ate pumpkin juice, pumpkin porridge, and even roasted sweet potatoes, chewing them slowly. lol (It still took forever to eat; but they said not to keep being scared of my jaw and avoid moving it, and to practice opening it.) They said moving my body little by little would help the swelling go down, so I put on a mask and walked around the local back mountain for about 40 minutes. Haha. The autumn leaves were pretty, and it was nice. Normally I’m not home at this time, so I guess I never had this kind of free time. lol By evening, maybe because of the swelling shot and the walk, the swelling went down a lot, and once the tape near my ears was gone, I could immediately see that the jaw angle was gone, so I kept staring at the mirror the whole time, amazed. Haha. My mom and dad were happy too. I kept repeating, I should have done this earlier! lol For dinner, I chewed and ate one sweet potato slowly, drank a glass of soy milk, and had pumpkin juice again. By night, the area around my mouth was swollen again, but not as much as I expected.. If it stays at the level it was earlier in the evening, daily life would be possible, so I’m honestly surprised. Just one day! The jaw angle is gone and there isn’t much swelling! (As long as the tape around the chin is hidden. lol) At night, I went to Baskin with my mom and bought ice cream too. lol It’s amazing to be out and about just one day after surgery.. lol They said eating ice cream is also good for swelling, so I took the chance to buy a quarter tub of the ice cream I like. lol When ordering, my mouth wouldn’t open well so my pronunciation slipped. T_T My mom said it for me instead.. T_T My mom usually doesn’t let me eat, saying I should lose weight, but now I’m free. (Well, I can’t eat much anyway because my mouth won’t open well. lol) Ah.. my friend also called. They asked why my voice sounded like that. lol I said I was sick and brushed it off. lol They told me colds are bad these days and to be careful.. (Sorry friend;; I actually had jaw surgery. lol) Oh! And I was kind of looking forward to losing some weight. But maybe because of the swelling.. I’ve actually gained 1 kg;; (It really feels a bit heavy, like my head has gained 1 kg. My neck is stiff too.) And because I can’t chew properly, I keep burping;; Maybe that’s why I’m swallowing things like sweet potatoes without chewing much, so I don’t have constipation. lol (The fiber goes in whole. lol) I hope I also lose some weight as the swelling goes down. T_T Then I can tell people I got slimmer and my face became more refined because I lost weight. lol Ah... anyway, I feel all fluttery and happy. lol
