I found out hospital information through a community. Whenever I felt anxious, I could read reviews and steady myself. Since I received a lot of help, I’m posting a review too~ I had surgery yesterday at around 9:30 in the morning. Haha (The day before, I was plagued by nightmares, like dreaming that I woke up during surgery and that my front teeth all fell out after surgery. Lol) I thought there would be traffic because it was morning, so I took the subway with my mom.. Maybe because it was Monday, even the subway was congested. Lol I was 20 minutes late. My surgery was originally scheduled for 9. I felt so sorry for being late.. but everyone helped me feel comfortable. Haha I changed into patient clothes, and although I had only applied skin toner and lotion before going, they said the design might get erased, so I washed my face with water. Lol I met the director, listened to the explanation once more, and they designed along my facial contour. Lol (It seemed like they drew with a marker? Lol) At a glance, my face was square. I had been barely holding on with Botox, (when I got Botox, at least it didn’t look as square;;) but instead of continuing to get Botox like this, I thought surgery would be better, so I decided to have surgery. After the consultation, I found out that I had a bit of a retruded chin. So I learned that was why I looked even more square. In the end, we decided to resect the square jaw that flared out below the ears, put that into the chin to make a V-line, and because my nerve line is on the outer side, only shave down the cortical bone slightly. Ah.. Also, because I have a lot of muscle, they would remove some muscle too. Lol They also said that because my mandible is short, it probably wouldn’t be possible to leave the mandibular angle under the ear. Still, they said I wouldn’t end up with an overly pointed “dog jaw.” Lol (Seeing how smooth it is below my ears now is so fascinating. Lol) Anyway, after the consultation, the director said, “Now! Then let’s do it!” and we left the consultation room together. I was lying in the inpatient room where I had changed clothes earlier, and a nurse came and put in an IV, gave me a secretion suppressant injection in the buttock, and gave me an injection into the IV line, saying it was a sedative. (They say if you get this, you lose your memory.. For me, it wasn’t immediate. Lol) The anesthesiology director came and we talked a bit about things like my experience with general anesthesia, weight, hospitalization history, and drug side effects, and I walked into the operating room with the nurse. (I was rambling to the anesthesiology director about every little thing, starting from when I was briefly hospitalized in elementary school, and I liked that they listened comfortably) I remember up to lying down in the operating room. I heard, “Please lie a little higher up,” so I pushed with my feet and moved upward, and when I asked, “I’m not under anesthesia yet, right?” they said, “It will go in soon.” After that, I have no memory. Lolol Vaguely, I think I was in a wheelchair, and when I vaguely opened my eyes, my mom wasn’t there. I thought, where did she go? and fell asleep again. When I opened my eyes, it was around 1? I wondered, did my surgery take this long? But they said the surgery ended quickly (1 to 1 hour 30 minutes), I stayed in the recovery room for about an hour, then came to the inpatient room and slept there too. I have rhinitis, so I had worried my nose would get blocked, but maybe the secretion suppressant I got before surgery suppresses nasal discharge too.. or maybe because I told the director I had rhinitis and they put in Otrivin. Lol The inside of my nose was wide open and comfortable. They said to spit out phlegm if it came out, and although it felt like something was caught in my throat, if I went “ahem, ahem!” it became comfortable again, so I didn’t need to spit. Because I have allergic rhinitis, I was worried that if I sneezed, the incision inside my mouth would burst. Lol But it was just a bit tight and okay. Lol The nurse brought mouthwash, and I gargled; a little blood came out. They had put 2 pieces of gauze below the center of my lower front teeth. I think it’s because the chin surgery was done by incising that area, and one piece had some blood on it, so they changed it to new gauze. (Other than this, there was nothing like a blood drain.) The director also came, pinched my lip, and checked if it was okay. (I think they were checking whether sensation had returned. My left side was still a little numbㅠ) Then I drank a cup of an ion drink presumed to be Pocari Sweat, went back and forth to the bathroom, ate ice cream, and ate pumpkin porridge. I drank the ion drink fine. But because my mouth wouldn’t open, it took a really long time to eat the ice cream and pumpkin porridge. It kept dribbling out the sides..;; After I finished all 3 IV bags, it was around 6, so I saw the director, had the cotton bundles inside the facial compression band removed, and had the gauze in my mouth taken out (just that alone made me feel alive!) I put on a hooded jumper and a mask, and was discharged the same day. The coordinator in charge said the surgery finished quickly, I didn’t have much swelling, and the bone had been cut cleanly in one long piece, so I felt relieved and went home. Haha Fortunately, my dad came to pick me up, so I could avoid other people’s eyes. (Even with a mask, the compression band stuck out a bit, so it bothered me.) The hardest thing yesterday was running into neighborhood ladies in the elevator going up to my home. Lolololol I coughed a lot, covered my face, and got off quickly. Lol (Because of my poor acting, I might have looked strangeㅠㅠ) I took selfies, and because I was swollen, I thought I actually looked younger and cute, so I was excited by myself. Lol But by evening, the swelling started coming up more and more. Lol (Maybe because the anesthesia wore off completely? My face also felt heavier. My neck also felt like it was tight?) What kind of pufferfish is this. Lololol I drank the pumpkin juice I had prepared in advance and gargled diligently, and because I originally have a habit of sleeping on my side, I slept wearing a neck pillow. I couldn’t sleep, so I browsed a community and then slept a bit. But maybe because my lips were flipped outward, I slept drooling-_-;; I woke up because the drool I had shed while sleeping felt cold-_-; (Sorry;) Ah.. As I write, it’s gotten too long.^^;; I’ve only written about yesterday so far.ㅠㅠ Anyway. It was less of a big deal than I expected. Lol
