Honestly, points and all that don’t matter anymore.. Once you reach level 3, you can see all the posts anyway haha I got some help in my own way just browsing this community, so I’m writing down what I went through and how I felt up to day 6 after surgery, hoping it might help even a little haha I had square jaw surgery and nose surgery together. I’ll say it again: I don’t recommend doing facial contouring and nose surgery together. My nose was blocked too, and my mouth and lips were so swollen that it was hard to breathe. *Why I Chose the Hospital The reason I chose the hospital was because they didn’t advertise. The consultant was older, kind, and after watching YouTube and reading the blog, I felt like the doctor’s personality was similar to mine. Kind of like someone who lives in a meticulous, tiring way. *Post-Surgery Review I had surgery on Saturday, and today is Friday, so you could say it has been a week; excluding the day of surgery, it’s day 6 haha I’ll briefly write what I felt on each day haha Saturday, the Day of Surgery I was so dizzy and nauseous. It felt like motion sickness from riding a large bus driven really roughly for 8 hours. Everyone says they rest for 2 or 3 hours and then go home on their own just fine, but I was absolutely not in that condition. I said I was dizzy and carsick, and they said I’d feel better if I went outside and walked a bit. I felt like I couldn’t even move by myself, but thankfully my mom came to pick me up, and I barely got home with her supporting me. They told me not to just keep lying down after getting home, but to walk a little and take my medication properly, but I threw everything up even after taking the medsㅠ The motion sickness was so severe that I dry-heaved every 5 minutes and vomited once an hour. I kept standing and sitting in front of the sink until 6 a.m., then thought this wouldn’t work and went to the ER. I had no strength because I couldn’t eat anything, and I was in pain too, so after getting painkillers and an injection to calm the motion sickness, it all settled down. Sunday So I left the ER around 10 a.m., and since I wasn’t motion-sick anymore, I rested a bit, drank soy milk, took my medicine, and slept. In the evening, I went out to walk, drank soy milk, took medicine, and slept again. The inside of my mouth and my lips were hugely swollen, so I couldn’t bring my teeth together and close my mouth; I just kept my mouth open. But my lips had really become about 3 times bigger, so I looked like you couldn’t tell whether my mouth was open or closed. If I didn’t sleep with something in my mouth, when I inhaled, my lips would get sucked in and stick to each other, so I couldn’t breathe and would wake upㅠ But even if I slept with something in my mouth, the opening was still small and oxygen supply wasn’t good, so it was uncomfortable and I kept waking upㅠ My lips were so swollen that unless I grabbed them with my hand and pulled them down to open up space, it felt a bit suffocating to breatheㅠ Monday The cotton in my nose was so stuffy that I wanted to pull it out several times a day, but they said they would remove the cotton on Tuesday, so I endured it. I took walks morning and evening, and whenever I took my medicine, I also took the motion-sickness medicine I got from the ER. I felt a little nauseated. They told me to put on and take off the compression band at one-hour intervals, but I think I just did it every 2 or 3 hours. Later I heard that wearing it for more than an hour is too long and actually prevents swelling from going down. Also, maybe because my body felt frustrated by the blocked nose, it kept making me sneeze, so I feel like I sneezed all day long. Tuesday Finally, it was the morning I was going to the hospital, so I was excited. I woke up from dawn and walked. I couldn’t sleep properly anywayㅠ If I forgot and slept without something in my mouth, my lips would stick together and I’d wake up in the middle from lack of oxygen.. If I slept with something in my mouth, I kept drooling even while asleepㅠ I was basically like a critical patientㅠ But when I looked in the mirror in the morning, a lot of swelling had gone down, and my swollen lips seemed a bit better too. The skin above my lips had severe inflammation like it was all going to peel off, there were small holes too, there were many wounds next to my lips, and the inside of my lips was all bruised with blood. It was definitely like that until Monday, but when I woke up, it had all disappeared. You know in fantasy movies when they pour on a magic potion and wounds heal quickly. It was amazing because I felt like I saw that with my own eyes lol There’s really nothing medicine can’t do. At the hospital, they removed the cotton from my nose, removed the tape around my nose, and removed the long tapes on my jaw too. After removing the tape on my neck, the tight feeling around my neck was definitely gone, so swallowing became easier, and with better blood circulation, it felt like the swelling was going down better too. Also, once I could breathe through my nose, I started smelling different air and places that I hadn’t been able to smell, so it felt good haha When my nose was blocked, nothing tasted like anything no matter what I ate, but now I can taste things too. I asked the hospital to prescribe more anti-motion-sickness medicine, but they said I wouldn’t feel motion-sick anymore, so instead of soy milk I should eat rice-type foods, and now only two kinds of medicine were left, so I should just take those. So I came home and blended porridge to eat, blended fruit to eat, had yogurt too, and ate happily. I really didn’t feel motion-sick anymore. Since I could breathe through my nose, it was comfortable, I didn’t drool, and I slept well too haha Of course, I slept sitting up the whole time, but with about 4 pillows behind me, it was quite doable. In the evening, I walked hard for 1 hour, took my medicine, and slept. Wednesday I weighed myself and was happy because I had lost 2 kg haha I guess it was because I had only been drinking soy milk and couldn’t eat much. My lips returned to my original lips, and my jaw area was swollen. Chewing was uncomfortable because my mouth didn’t open much, so I kept finely blending and drinking everything, whether it was porridge or fruit. I rinsed with mouthwash every time after finishing a meal, and gently brushed my teeth with a small toothbrush from Daiso. They said ice packs wouldn’t be effective anymore, so I just used the compression band at one-hour intervals. I walked morning and evening, took medicine, read books or watched YouTube, and rested. Thursday & Friday Only the area where the lower jaw was cut and the sutured areas inside my mouth are swollen; the rest is fine. Interestingly, even after nose surgery, my nose didn’t swell. Tomorrow, Saturday, once the splint on my nose is removed, I think I’ll be able to go anywhere without it being noticeable as long as I wear a mask! Until now I felt self-conscious because of the splint on my noseㅠ My mouth opens enough for two fingers to fit, so I can chew rice grains, and today, Friday, I ate porridge as-is without blending it. The instant rice and porridge from Yangban are good haha Chicken porridge, mushroom vegetable porridge, and beef porridge haha I really want to eat a handmade burger and McDonald’s fries soon. I hope the things I felt and went through while recovering are at least a little helpful! Everyone recovering after surgery, let’s all keep going together! Fighting!
