I had silicone + ear cartilage removed after 5 years and 8 months. The reasons were, over time, worrying about inflammation, and also because after marriage, childbirth, and raising two children, I almost never have a chance to wear makeup, so on my bare face the rhinoplasty really stands out, and it feels like everyone just says I had nose surgery... Of course that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I just didn’t like it. My original nose was fine too.. I desperately wanted to go back to my own nose, so I went ahead... My doctor was famous for nose surgery and had 25 years of experience, so I think I trusted them blindly. They said with complete confidence that I would definitely go back to my original nose. They said there could be some depression at the tip, but that flesh would fill back in with time, that in my case, since there was no major manipulation(?) or inflammation, I didn’t need to worry about contracture, I just believed them and wanted to believe them. Right after the procedure I wasn’t sure whether it had gotten better because of the swelling, but since a perfectly normal nose had been turned into a mess, I was going crazy. When I press on it, it sinks in deeply. I didn’t do any separate taping. From days 2 to 4, I cried whenever I opened my eyes, and I cried whenever I looked in the mirror. Not to brag, but my pretty face, to the point people said it looked like a celebrity’s, had been turned into a wreck, and I kept thinking, if there was no inflammation and the shape had come out nicely, why did I touch it and turn it into this mess? I was really so angry at myself. The swelling was severe, and I had bruises all over like an avatar. By the seventh day, the swelling had gone down a lot, but the bruising remained. The bridge still looked high because of the swelling, and the tip was blunt.. There’s a tiny little cherry tomato there (my original tip was rather pointed..), so it looks dull. ㅠㅠ The depression... is there, as expected. Where the ear cartilage was added on sinks in deeply when pressed. I want to believe what the doctor said, that it will rise up. ㅠㅠ I’m even developing social anxiety because my face is still such a mess. At the two-week mark, the bridge swelling had noticeably gone down, so it looks much lower now. I wonder if my nose was always this low. Since it was such a high nose to begin with, maybe that’s why it feels that way.. It’s flat, and my face looks bland. Contracture.. I was told there wasn’t any.. I was told there wasn’t any.. but there is.. It’s subtle, but I can feel it gradually lifting. My nose was originally long, so I wondered what a short-nose feeling would be like.. I understand now. ㅡㅡ;; My nose really is getting shorter.. In photos, there is another version of me. I almost threw the camera. Every day is depressing and I hate looking in the mirror. At night it pulls so much, and I agree with the person who said it feels like the tip is sticking to the forehead. My mood is really bad. ㅠㅠ On TV, it’s all people with nose jobs. Even on shows with ordinary people, almost everyone has had a nose job as a basic thing. Did I do something crazy? I wish I had just left it alone. It came out pretty nicely, there was no inflammation, so why did I do that, I only regret it. ㅠㅠ Now, after 3 weeks... It’s gradually settling down. The bridge has become much slimmer too, so it looks okay (though it is getting lower..) Fortunately, the tip seems to be slowly coming down too. It might suddenly lift again, though.. ㅠㅠ And the area that had been sunken is really slowly starting to come back up, so it is beginning to look better. As the doctor said, I can’t tell whether new skin is coming up or scar tissue, but it is rising. Still..... the tip is still a little lifted, though only very slightly.. I can feel it.. They say contracture usually rises like crazy from weeks 3 to 5 and then gradually goes down.. I don’t know. It seems better than at 2 weeks.. ㅠㅠ I wonder how it will go from here.. This is how it is right now.. For now.. I keep telling myself that removing it was the right choice. Inflammation could come someday, and if I remove it then, the aftereffects would be even worse, so removing it before there was inflammation was the right thing to do.. And something I learned after the removal was that it was an L implant. I was surprised. I had assumed it was straight of course.. I heard that an L implant affects the tip of the nose and raises the risk of contracture. Still, the good thing is that I’d heard L implants often lead to later shape changes or side effects, so I feel like I made the right choice. Really.. I had also had a little work done on other areas. But when it comes to nose surgery.. I don’t think there’s anything worse. Unless your nose is in a really severe condition that causes serious stress, I hope you’ll just be satisfied with your own nose.. Nose surgery really seems like, for whatever reason, you have to do it at least twice. ㅠㅠ I’ll leave another review later.. For those thinking about removal, and those who already had it removed.. I’m sure everyone is going through a lot of worry and hardship, so I hope everything turns out well for all of you!! ^^
