Hello, it’s already been almost two weeks since I had surgery on June 1.. I’m posting this in the hope that it helps someone. First, I visited about five clinics for consultations. Some said I should do the eyes, nose, and mouth all together, while others said I should focus on my nose and jaw to bring out my strengths. Even for the same nose, some said to shave down the hump, bring the nasal bones together, and raise the tip, while others said tip surgery alone would be enough. I think it’s best to go to many consultations and choose someone who honestly points out only the parts that really need to be done. The place I chose had a director who had been doing this for more than 10 years, the clinic was large, and they honestly said we should only do what’s necessary, which made me trust them. (I won’t take clinic inquiries.) The cost varied by 1 to 5 million won, and the ear-autograft square jaw surgery was more expensive than the intraoral incision. Since you’re entrusting your face for life, even if it costs a bit more, look carefully and choose a safe place that provides good post-op care, has an anesthesiologist on site, and has been doing this for a long time. They did lower the price when I asked for a discount. I was nervous on the day, but seeing the director put my mind at ease a little. If I had chosen a cheap place and undergone surgery without even knowing the surgeon’s face, I think I would have been a lot more anxious. Once the general anesthesia started, I heard some noisy murmuring near my ears and felt my strength drain away as I fell asleep. In the middle, I vaguely felt nurses calling out names, but I wasn’t conscious. Then I woke up again and opened my eyes, and I really had to go to the bathroom. I tried to get up, but it was like sleep paralysis and all my strength had left me, so I couldn’t get up. I raised my hand and said I needed to go to the bathroom, and I think I went about three times. But nothing came out;; The nurse said that because of the anesthesia I might just be feeling the sensation, and told me to stop going, but I still kept wanting to go lol. I already tend to go to the bathroom often, so I kept going back and forth. And then the pain from hell began. Honestly, if I had known it would hurt that much, I wouldn’t have had the surgery. Right away I thought, why did I do this, I should just have lived with my natural face, and I regretted it so much. The first and second days were truly... having the nose and jaw done together was even harder. I couldn’t breathe through my nose, and my throat was blocked by bloody phlegm so I couldn’t breathe through that either. Sometimes I would gasp because it felt like my airway might block from the phlegm, and on top of that, the general anesthesia made my stomach feel nauseated. It was the kind of pain that made me think death would be better. I kept going back and forth to the bathroom, spitting out bloody phlegm and disinfecting the area. I felt like throwing up, but I held it in because I thought vomiting would be bad. My throat was blocked by phlegm so breathing was hard, and I couldn’t even drink water.. When I tried breathing through my mouth, my mouth dried out and it was really hard. My jaw didn’t really hurt and my nose didn’t really hurt either, but my body was extremely exhausted. I kept thinking, why do I have to go through this suffering, and tears kept coming. I just endured it thinking I need to get through this alive. At night I was watching TV and Girls’ Generation and Kang Min-kyung appeared on TV and were running around, and I found that admirable. And when I thought they must have gone through this kind of pain too, I felt that shared suffering lol. I used to feel jealous, but then I felt sorry for them.. I was hospitalized for one day, sleeping and waking while sitting upright with my upper body raised, and the next day my stomach seemed to have settled a bit. There was still some nausea when I drank water. The swelling was incredible on days 2 to 4. Beyond a carp, I looked like a monster.. I had bruising under my eyes, my eyes were so swollen that my eyelashes poked them, and my cheeks swelled more than any photo I’ve seen in any review. Honestly, I had secretly thought that even after surgery I’d recover quickly and wouldn’t swell much, but that was a mistake lol. Before surgery, I think it’s better to go in thinking you might swell and hurt the most. Anyway, on the second day I drank some water with a syringe and had the drain removed. It didn’t hurt, it was just a little unpleasant. While disinfecting the mouth, I spat out blood. Then I got the compression bandage and was discharged. Since I could only eat porridge, I felt weak, but I was grateful that the nausea had gone away because that was the hardest part for me. After that, I had a monster face and got stressed every time I looked in the mirror, and I thought if I had to live looking like this, death might be better. I always thought people who said they regretted surgery and were suffering even though it had only been less than a week were being too hasty, but once I actually experienced it, I became like that too.. I was anxious. On day 4 or so I went to the clinic for disinfection, and from day 5 the swelling started going down. By today it has gone down a lot, and now my face has returned to that of a normal person. Until the splint on my nose was removed, I went around wearing a mask, a hat, and even a hat pulled down over it, fully armed. At first I even took a taxi to the clinic, but then I thought the fare was a waste and switched to the subway.. I could breathe through my nose starting on day 7. Still, I’m alternating between nose and throat breathing, and by more than 10 days in, I was sick of porridge and couldn’t eat it anymore, so I’ve been eating rice made very soft, almost like tteok, with soft side dishes (meat patties, tofu, fish, potatoes, radish, steamed eggs, etc.). I’ve lost 4 kg.. Right now, my nose seems like it has almost completely lost the swelling, and the bruising hasn’t all gone away yet but has improved a lot, and the major swelling in my cheeks seems to have gone down too. I didn’t have the stitches removed in my mouth because they were dissolvable, but there’s still a lot of swelling inside my mouth, so it feels awkward like I’m holding something in my cheek.. Smiling still feels awkward for now. I’m just going to wait patiently. The director said to make it natural, and that’s what I wanted too, so it was done naturally, and I didn’t even tell my friends I was getting it done. I’ll look again in two months, and I hope by then the swelling inside my mouth will also be gone and it will look natural. What I want to say is that this really is not an easy surgery. General anesthesia, the swelling, all of it. Make up your mind firmly, and if you’re going to do it, choose the clinic carefully and go somewhere good. The recovery period was two weeks, and for me it did return to a normal-looking face after that, but the cheek area still feels awkward, so I think it’s better to allow plenty of time. Once all the swelling is gone and it looks natural, I’ll post another review.^^
