I had the silicone taken out after 1 year and 2 months. I wanted to remove the cartilage too, but since a support strut was used, I didn’t because I was worried it might collapse. They did it under local anesthesia, and I thought I was going to die from the pain.. They removed it through an incision inside the nose, but it really wouldn’t come out easily.. I think it took 30 minutes. After taking it out, they said the silicone looked like it had been ground down so much that they even asked whether it was really done at a plastic surgery clinic ... I guess my first surgery was really done terribly.. I don’t know if the ear cartilage is also a mess. For now, I’m going to see how things go after removing the silicone. It’s wrapped in bandages, so I still don’t know what it looks like.
