* Reason I had known since I was young (high school) that my cheekbones were large. I wanted an oval face shape, but it felt a bit diamond-shaped, so I naturally had a habit of taking photos with my mouth open. Like everyone, since it didn’t cause any inconvenience in daily life, I just lived with it. I wasn’t the type to be that dissatisfied with my appearance in other ways either. But suddenly I couldn’t resist the urge to do it, so I ended up having it done.
* Consultation review <Reason I chose the hospital> For about a week, I went around to maybe 8 hospitals? Facial Contouring Standard was the first hospital I consulted at. When I put together the consultation content, including what I knew, the knowledge of the specialists, and surgical techniques from other hospitals, their surgical method was the most standard, and that standard approach was professional. Rather than saying other hospitals are good or bad, set your own criteria and choose well. Each hospital has its own individual characteristics, such as what surgical method, what fixation method, what incision, and how they handle the bone.
* Pain First day I’m the type who has to do something if I want to, so after going around hospitals for a week, I went straight for it. But it hurt much more than I expected, so as soon as I woke from anesthesia I thought, oh no. Please consider carefully. If I could turn back time and had known that pain from that day, I think I would have reconsidered the surgery. Days 2-3, I don’t remember. The first day hurt the most, and on days 2-3 there was pain, but it was manageable enough.
* Food From the first day to 1 week, since you can’t open your mouth, only porridge, liquid food, and watery rice gruel are recommended. On day 4, I was so hungry and out of it, and my mom was making gimbap at home. Maybe she felt sorry for me because I couldn’t eat, so she naturally put a piece of gimbap in my mouth, and I tried it. Putting it in was possible, but then an emergency situation happened where I was in pain and couldn’t open my mouth or chew. Putting it in my mouth was possible, but the fact that I couldn’t spit it out the way I wanted was more awful. If you have the arrogant thought that “I’ll probably be able to do it regardlessㅎ,” you’re mistaken. Try it right away. It is fun though. At 1 week, stitches were removed and I had aftercare, and from then I started eating noodles in earnest. At 2 weeks, pork belly.
* Progress and current condition First of all, the cheekbones, the 45-degree cheekbones, definitely got smaller, so when I look in the mirror or touch them with my hands, they’re really gone. But below the temples, between the ears and cheekbones, I can feel something like pins, and visually there is a slight protrusion on both sides. They said this will disappear with time, so I’m trusting that and waiting. Maybe because I also had deep cheek fat removal, or maybe it’s swelling from the deep cheek fat removal, or maybe it’s swelling from the cheekbone surgery itself, but I developed cheek fat. I originally didn’t have cheek fat, but since it’s only one month, I’m waiting thinking this will disappear with time too. My weight is 60 kg, and after surgery it has been going back and forth between 58-60. They usually say results start showing from 6 months, so as a one-month newbie, honestly I still don’t really know. When I touch it with my hands and look in the mirror, I know they cut down quite a lot of cheekbone to some extent, but it’s not dramatic yet. What was hard was that on the first day, it hurt a lot, and on the way home it was hard because I could feel blood pooling in my face, and as the days went by, I could feel that blood coming out through the openings of my body. So I waited carefully, and I really went around quietly as if possessed by a very calm cat. After 1 week, the sensation of pain gradually all disappeared, but maybe because the tension had eased, what made me most anxious was finding myself, when I woke up, not sleeping in the proper posture. So now at one month I’m going to get a CT scan, and what I’m most worried about is whether the bones have separated or not. What’s certain is that I’m satisfied.
