Since I was young, I had a big complex about my appearance because of my protruding lower jaw and malocclusionㅠㅠ.. At first, my parents were worried too and wondered if orthodontic treatment alone would be enough, but the diagnosis said surgery was definitely necessary! Right after surgery ~ first week For the first few days, all I could do was endure itㅠㅠㅠ It was hard to breathe, and because of vomiting and nosebleeds I couldn’t sleep. My mouth was tied with elastics and I couldn’t eat properly, so my body had no energy and I was very exhausted ㅠ_ㅠ Still, after about a week, breathing gradually became a little easier, and when the wafer changed to a removable one, I could breathe a little!!! Week 2 ~ one month After the stitches were removed, the inside of my mouth felt much cleaner, and the swelling also started to go down little by little! I practiced opening my mouth, and eating gradually improved too. I did have tooth pain from the orthodontic treatment, but it was bearable haha Months 2~3 There was still swelling and the sensation at the tip of my chin was dull, but breathing became much easier and I could eat almost everything lol My pronunciation was still slurred, but it was improving, and my facial expressions were becoming more natural too. Months 4~6 Around month 4, sensation at the tip of my chin gradually started to return, but on the left side, there is still a pulling sensation. My pronunciation definitely became clearer, and I could eat almost everything without avoiding foods!!!! But facial swelling still remained, so I also worked out diligently lol By month 6, my overall condition had improved a lot! My facial line has also gradually become more natural, so I’m very satisfied these days. The area around my chin still feels slightly tingling and numb, but it doesn’t interfere much with daily life, and I’m just waiting for my orthodontic treatment to finish haha It has only been half a year since my two-jaw surgery, but I truly only think that I’m glad I had the surgery :) Thank you, EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery~!
