The photo is too big, I'm flustered;; It's been half a year since my cheekbone reduction (45-degree + side cheekbones). I lived for half a year without any particular problems, but about 3 days ago I had some slight pain, so I got a CT scan and an exam, and I'm writing while I'm at it. It's not pain to the point that I can't go about daily life; it feels a bit like inflammation. I was prescribed anti-inflammatory painkillers and have been taking them for two days, and it seems to be getting a little better~ The swelling has all gone down.. Still, I sometimes get a slight tingling feeling. It doesn't hurt, and it also feels kind of numb/stuffy?
Pros First of all, the facial line definitely looks cleaner. I like that there are no external appearance issues. Cheek sagging is, hmm.. maybe because I'm still young.. And I originally had slight nasolabial folds, but comparing before and after surgery, the nasolabial folds are the same.. Even just looking at the CT, after the cheekbone resection, the bone looks like it has gone down a bit, but the soft tissue didn't sag as much as I expected. Maybe it's slow because my skin is thick and I don't have much facial fat. I'm also doing home care at home ㅜㅜ
Cons + side effects Because of this alone, if I could go back, I wouldn't do cheekbone surgery. The tingling feeling is so uncomfortable I could die. It's scary too.. And when I looked at the cheekbone CT, one side of the anterior cheekbone was slightly separated, but it had been like that since the surgery. They said at the time that the surgery went well, and even now it is a bit separated, but because the front side seems to be well fixed, I don't think it's to the level of nonunion. Still, I was so worried that I emailed a plastic surgeon at ㅇㅇㅊ. They said it is hard to know from the CT images alone, but it does not seem to be at a level requiring revision surgery. When I touch the bone, it doesn't hurt and it doesn't move. Still, I can't help being scared... ㅠㅠ It feels like living with a time bomb.
It started hurting 3 days ago, and my anxiety symptoms were really severe then. Before sleeping, I had a fever, my throat felt tight, my chest felt tight, and I couldn't breathe. One thing appeared after that: under my ear, my temporomandibular joint? muscle? feels so stiff. Rather than painful, it's just very stiff.. Opening my mouth has also become a little uncomfortable. I used to eat big foods just fine, but this is TMJ pain I got together with the cheekbone pain 3 days ago..ㅠㅠㅠ
I'm thinking of going to a university hospital soon too. And scar tissue.. I don't know whether my current cheekbone pain is because of scar tissue or because of the bone. When I press the bone, it doesn't hurt at all. But when I pull on the skin in that area, it feels stiff and blunt, and it hurts a bit.
It's true that cheekbone surgery shouldn't be taken lightly ㅠㅠ.. If I could go back, I don't think I would do it. Though if I went back, maybe I would do it again (I'm very satisfied appearance-wise). If you have any questions, please ask ㅠㅠ..
