9 years ago, I had surgery with 2 mm silicone on the nasal bridge, and septal cartilage and ear cartilage for the nasal tip. I was told I had almost no nasal bridge, a short nose, and relatively thin skin. They said they made the nasal bridge with straight silicone, and raised the nose by covering the lower alar area/nasal dorsum area with septal cartilage. There wasn’t enough septal cartilage, so they also used cartilage from one ear. When I went to the surgery hospital and looked at my old photos, the height of the nasal tip had also gone up a bit after surgery. After the first surgery, my nose was crooked, so 5 months later I had a correction where they pushed the silicone in straight. Now that it has been almost 9...10 years, the silicone is still bent to one side... and in photos the center of my nasal bridge is on the right, so it looks kind of pitiful. Of course, my nostrils are uneven too. I think I always had it in mind that I would have to get revision surgery someday. These days, the skin on my nasal tip looks round and white, so I went to the surgery hospital for a consultation, and they said my skin has thinned and the ear cartilage that was inserted is showing. They say that because my skin is thin, if I have my nose touched again, I won’t be able to get a better result. Other people seem to do fine even after three or four surgeries... just how thin must my skin be for them to say that...ㅠㅠ They said there is a way to shave down the visible ear cartilage, but then my nose would become a bit shorter. I asked whether I could remove all the silicone, septal cartilage, and ear cartilage, and they said removal is possible, but I wouldn’t be able to go back to my old appearance... and even if it did go back, I would be devastated. My nasal bridge really was almost nonexistent, but if I remove everything, will I turn into something monstrous? At least I don’t think it would be the ugly, crooked look caused by an implant.......ㅠ What would it be like if I removed the silicone from the nasal bridge and just corrected the nasal tip a little? Will my nose collapse? Medical technology has advanced so remarkably that we live in a world where even a nose that isn’t there can be created. Is there really no way for someone like me, with a short nose and no nasal bridge, to live with this? If I leave the ear cartilage in the nasal tip as it is, will it become more and more prominent? What should I do?
