Around January, I had a slight hump shaved down, nostril reduction, a 2 mm silicone implant on the nasal bridge, and the nasal tip raised with septal cartilage. Around early August, maybe because my immune system weakened from a flu-like illness, my nose suddenly swelled due to inflammation. Even after taking antibiotics for 2 weeks, the swelling didn’t go down, the area between my brows kept getting tighter, and the nasal dorsum also became thicker, so before it was too late, in the end I had only the silicone removed two days ago.. I had the surgery at the hospital where I originally had it done, at no cost. During the consultation I was going to lower the septal-cartilage nasal tip too, but they said my original nasal bridge was somewhat high, so removing only the silicone was enough... After the surgery, according to the manager, the director said the implant was a little under 2 mm, so it was okay not to lower the nasal tip height, so they said they only removed the silicone. But since I have a splint attached, there’s no way for me to check what my nose looks like right now... I had no facial swelling at all from the start, and since only the silicone was removed through a closed approach, it ended with just two stitches. Is it normal to have this little swelling? Is there no more swelling left to go down, and no chance of swelling again?
But one thing is certain: I feel more reassured than before because there is no foreign material (silicone) in my face. If silicone is removed while there is inflammation like in my case, is the chance of contracture high?
And after removing silicone, does the nasal bridge height go down, or does the nasal bridge height go up? It seems like people say two different things... Some say that after the initial swelling, the height becomes even lower than right after silicone removal.. And others say it can become higher than the post-removal height because of the capsule or scar tissue.. Everyone, please let me know!
Which one is correct? One thing is certain: after removing the silicone, I feel relieved. Everyone, don’t suffer in silence... Before something even more miserable happens later, please remove the silicone.... I don’t even want to think about having revision surgery again anymoreㅠㅠ
The silicone has been removed, and the septal part is autologous dermis... If I take good care of it from now on, the inflammation won’t happen again, right?ㅠㅠ
