Hello, everyone. It's been a while.
I've had my nose worked on 4 times in total. My original nose was already said to be pretty by many people, but I still went ahead with my first surgery out of my own greed, and it turned into a witch nose against my intentions, so I had both the silicone and the septal cartilage removed after just 3 months. People said all kinds of things about collapse and so on, but I thought a low nose that had collapsed would still be better than this nose, so I just had it removed. In fact, the nose after removal looked prettier, with the tip nice and straight.
Contracture... I didn't feel the contracture that other people talk about at all. The only thing was that the tip was a little higher and firmer and harder than my original nose, so I couldn't do the pig-nose trick. It stayed that way for about 8 months. From month 8 on, my nose was still firm and heavy, but I could start doing the pig-nose trick, and it began to look more natural. (The columella dropped and the tip started to come down smoothly.) That's when I realized that the period before that had been the contracture.
But the saddle-like dent on the bridge that appeared after removal, a side effect I thought would fill in on its own over time, was so upsetting that I ended up having surgery again at another hospital. Because communication with the doctor was poor, I was left with yet another nose full of disappointment. So finally, a month ago, I promised myself that I would not be greedy anymore and had everything removed again. (At the same time, they filled the dent again with the ear cartilage that had been grafted.) But...
I thought I'd be satisfied as soon as it was removed, just like the first time, but the swelling was so severe and there was bruising too. Starting from the second week, my nose suddenly lifted a lot, and the tip got way too high. I'm so, so upset right now... During the second cosmetic surgery, they said that while fixing the dent on the bridge, they would cut the distal septum and perform a procedure to lift the tip, but because that removed septal support, the contracture became so intense that the nose seems even shorter... The tip also feels blocked (like how noses look blocked after nasal surgery).
When will the contracture let up... The bridge also looks very awkward and unnatural because of the contracture.
From experience I know that if I wait, the nose will eventually loosen and come down, but..... I'm really scared. I don't think the contracture was this strong when I had the first removal surgery.. At the first removal, even though the tip had risen a little, it didn't project forward, but now my nose feels much more awkward.. Has anyone else had removal done twice like me?
* During my first rhinoplasty, the silicone was 3 mm and the tip was too high in an upturned shape. During the second surgery, I only touched the tip without any implant in the bridge, yet the aftereffects after the second surgery were much greater. So I don't think the difference after removal comes down to how much manipulation was done or not. It seems random.
If I look at the timing, the first surgery was removed just 3 months later (before the scar tissue had even loosened), and the second was removed after 1 year (after all the scar tissue had loosened). So timing also seems to be a matter of luck... I thought that if I removed it after a long time, once it had settled and softened, it would quickly return to place, but it seems better to remove it as early as possible If you stay with a manipulated nose for too long, it doesn't just collapse right away, but it seems like scar tissue fills the space instead. On the other hand, if you remove it early, since there still isn't much space secured, it seems to collapse quickly after removal by the amount of the original nose volume.
