Nose Re-Surgery@rhino-redo

4 months after implant removal surgery

I had an open approach, had my nose shaved down, had a septal support graft inserted, and had 3.5 mm silicone inserted.

The shape was too artificial, like Seo In-young’s nose. Even the tip was too high, so as time went by, my skin turned red, so I had it removed.

I had all the support structures removed. The only thing the doctor left was the final suture tying off the nasal tip for removal.

While reading removal posts, I’m sure you all are getting insanely excited hahaha I was the same. The point is, unless there’s inflammation or a life-threatening side effect, if it’s really just a simple appearance issue, I hope you’ll be more cautious about removal. Even if it’s just for half a year, think it over again, and anyway, take enough time. People who only had silicone seem okay, but if a lot was altered, you can’t go back perfectly ㅋㅋㅋ

Honestly, I feel very refreshed after taking it out. But you do have to pay the price. I did it prepared to become less pretty ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

I managed it carefully for 2 months. I ran a humidifier every day. I did warm compresses 2 to 3 times a day. I drank 8 glasses of water. I took Rizaben regularly too (though I sometimes skipped it). I took vitamins and ate almonds too. As for exercise... I was too lazy, so I didn’t do it. These days, why am I so lazy...

1. Appearance

- I’ve become a very ordinary Korean person. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Now I’m wondering if I need to brush the T-zone from here on out.

- When I took it out right away, it was a huge shock. My nose was gone. Because of nasal swelling, it looked like my nose had disappeared, but it goes down quickly, and later the nose gradually becomes visible.

- If you shave down the bridge, the nose becomes puffy. The bridge is shaved down and widened. If you took photos only before the surgery, the bridge shows up, but now it looks puffier than that bridge.

So in hospitals famous for revision surgery, they recommend surgery that shaves down the bridge. I didn’t have that, but there is someone who did, so find them well and ask.

- Septal support graft: there are a lot of opinions about this part. People say it can collapse. I suspected it several times too and asked again, then I went to a separate ENT clinic with someone who had removal surgery, and they said it had not collapsed. They said it’s not a common thing. Where the support was removed, the nasal tip becomes blunt. It got bigger. You’ve probably heard this a lot, and although the tip did lower, it’s still a bit high.. I think it’s not because of contraction, but because it hasn’t come down yet. To be honest, I hope it hasn’t come down. ㅋㅋㅋ

- Nasal bridge: especially the lower part of the nose suddenly sinks and then rises again at the very end, but the doctor said that seems normal. I don’t really remember well either, but the lower part feels slightly sunken. For reference, the septum did not collapse.

- Columella area: honestly, I don’t really remember my columella. But since I had open surgery twice, once for the original surgery and once for the removal surgery, the incision line still hasn’t disappeared, so that worries me the most. ㅠㅠ The left incision area rose up like scar tissue, so the other day I got a scar tissue injection.

2. Inside

- The pulling sensation and dryness started to be noticeable after 3 months.

3. Family and friends’ reactions

They said the nose after surgery looks obviously operated on and pretty, while my current nose is just natural and fine. (Not just out of politeness.) More than anything, the tip is still there, so even friends with no eye for detail sometimes didn’t notice..ㅋㅋㅋ If the tip drops from here... that’s the end, right.

If someone with a similar case is considering implant removal.

First, if you’re worried about the bluntness of the nose, you need to think about whether to have the bridge shaved down. Second, you need to think about whether to leave a little of the support by trimming it. This is something I can’t really say yet because you need to wait 1 to 2 years to know, but someone once left me a message saying, "Don’t remove it because it changes a lot," and that last line still really sticks with me. Third, the open-surgery scar... this.. can’t be helped.. you’ll have to accept it.

To those considering removal No matter how thoroughly you prepare, maybe that’s just how the world works when something can’t be helped. Still, we have to keep trying until we do it. It’s hard to find a good doctor, but find a decent one. Ask carefully, and ask again and again. And above all, aftercare is the most important. They say hot compress packs + minerals + vitamins help reduce scar tissue!! This is important.

And to those planning nose surgery If you really have to do it, then just get silicone inserted through a non-open approach, and choose a low one... If you unnecessarily go high, later the skin gets thinner.. A sister I know has had it for about 6 years; she had it done thinly and only the tip done (people couldn’t tell because it wasn’t too obvious ㅋㅋㅋㅋ) It looked very natural and suited East Asian features while keeping the tip alive. But if you go too low... anyway, decide that appropriately for yourself. Don’t touch anything else. Never shave down the nose bridge.

Honestly, for now I want to be satisfied with the refreshment, the natural look, and the slightly preserved nasal tip. But I’m worried about the scar tissue ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ It’s suddenly annoying.

The nose is very important. I know that. But I think there are so many other things you can work on to become prettier.

Faces come in many forms, but the beauty standard is only one, and that’s the problem! Doctors don’t seem to have much aesthetic sense either. There are so many other things we can improve, so I think it would be good to put effort into things other than the nose. What I’ve felt through plastic surgery is that in the end, it’s the law of compatibility between the original face and the features, and the most natural thing for me seems to be the prettiest. I used to complain about my face all the time, but later I realized there are definitely many other things that can make yourself stand out and become beautiful.

Oh, and about humidifiers: I bought a famous heated humidifier, but cleaning it is insanely annoying, and above all it doesn’t work well, so it’s frustrating...... There are ultrasonic humidifiers that don’t need cleaning. I think those are better...

That’s my 4-month review. I’ll come back again in a year.
