Review of Double-Jaw Surgery at Yiyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Apgujeong-dong, Apgujeong Station

My teeth were uneven, and because of malocclusion, my upper teeth were positioned inward. I decided to have surgery to align my dental midline, treat the malocclusion, and achieve a more natural, brighter impression and smile. The reason I chose Yiyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was that it is an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic, not a plastic surgery clinic, so I thought it had specialized expertise. After the first consultation, I gained trust in them, and after the consultation my confidence grew even more. After carefully thinking it over while looking up many reviews, I chose Yiyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery! [Surgery Recovery Process] Day of surgery to week 1 • On the day of surgery, I still had some anesthesia effects left, so I felt a little dizzy and sleepy, but it was bearable. • The hardest part was that breathing was uncomfortable because of the nasal tube! • On days 2 to 3, once the nasal tube was removed, breathing became much more comfortable, but I was still very swollen. • From day 4, I could go out for walks without difficulty and my condition improved, but the swelling got worse. • By week 1, I could clearly see the swelling going down. As long as I took good care of myself until the stitches were removed, I was able to get through it without major difficulty, and the hardest part was having to bite down on the wafer.. I could feel it touching my lower teeth too, so it felt very stuffy and frustrating. Weeks 2 to 4 • A lot of sensation returned to my jaw, so I had no problem shaving. • Chewing was still prohibited, so I mashed dumpling soup, ice cream, Jjapagetti, and similar foods with my tongue and swallowed them, but they went down better than I expected, so there was no problem. • I felt well, so I walked every day, and the swelling gradually went down. Month 1 • My mouth could open enough to fit about two fingers. • I had no problem speaking, and the pain had almost disappeared. • More than 80% of the swelling had gone down, so now when I looked in the mirror, it looked natural. Month 3 • I could finally eat pork belly! • They said drinking alcohol was also okay, so I returned to a lifestyle almost the same as before surgery. • The visible swelling was all gone, and my orthodontic treatment is also going smoothly! • I’m not 100% recovered yet, but as long as I’m careful not to bump into anything, I have no discomfort living normally now. Months 6 to 9 • I’m receiving orthodontic care with no discomfort at all when eating. • The orthodontic treatment is also going well while adjusting things like molar height and spacing between the teeth! • The surgical swelling is completely gone, and my facial line has become completely natural. Months 9 to 12 • The bone has settled firmly, and the condition of my teeth has improved a lot. • I’m satisfied with the orthodontic results too, and my facial contours have become natural. • Now I’m living just as I did before surgery, and I’m sure it was a choice I don’t regret! ________________________________________ At first, surgery was scary and felt burdensome, but in the end, my quality of life definitely improved. My smile has become more natural, and since my occlusion has been corrected, chewing is much more comfortable. Now it just feels like my original face, and I really think I made the right decision to have surgery! Thank you, Director Shin Hee-jin of Yiyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!
