According to the doctor I saw yesterday, they would have put cartilage at the end of the L-shaped implant. But on the CT, I couldn’t see any cartilage (they say cartilage doesn’t show up on CT because its bone density is low). Anyway, the moment I found out it was an L-shaped implant, I have no idea what surgery I actually had

Maybe cartilage was placed above or below the L-shape? and got absorbed.. But if it’s L-shaped and there aren’t any particular side effects, I probably wouldn’t touch it.

Did the hospital say it was L-shaped? In the exact term, they said L-shaped? Usually, l-shaped = L-shaped = L-shaped silicone all mean the same thing,, But did they explain it differently to you??

The silicone was purple, and she said it wasn't actually going to be purple inside, but its shape was an I-shape. But 10 years later.... when I got a CT scan, it was an L-shape^^... Since 10 years had passed and there were no records left, all I could do was be dumbfounded.

There’s no contracture or visibility, but the implant has shifted to the right~~ It’s unsettling even that it’s shifted, and finding out it was an L-shaped one made me decide firmly that I should get it removed..

After looking into this a lot in order to remove it, they said that just taking out the L-shaped silicone without any other manipulation is the least difficult option!! Even if it’s hard, keep visiting a lot of clinics and asking around!

Huh? Removing a nose implant is also cosmetic surgery, so I’ve never heard of anyone saying that if you remove it your nose will be ruined and contract. Did the doctor really say that? Nose removal surgery isn’t just a case of taking the implant out and stopping there! It also includes reshaping the nose so that, after the implant is removed, the nose can still have a normal shape without it. There are three well-known nose-removal specialists in Apgujeong, right? I’m not sure if they’re still famous now, but if you no longer want to put anything in there, whether your own tissue or an artificial implant, it might be good to look into that area once.

It seems like the L-shaped one should be removed.. please look into it thoroughly and make a good choice

You shouldn't be certain based on counseling from just one hospital. If you go around to different hospitals and get consultations, you'll eventually find a way forward. Putting 10 million won into that one hospital is way too risky.

My older sister that I know had surgery a long time ago too, and when she had revision surgery because of contracture, she said there was an L-shape implant in there. Did they do them all with L-shape like that back then?

Hey, I’m exactly the same lol. A crazy old doctor in Busan told me that L-shaped silicone is only for quacks... said he would never use that. And then he gaslit me into believing both sides of my ear cartilage had been taken, so I supposedly had no ear cartilage left. That was about 15 years ago. I only had surgery from that old guy twice. Like you said, there wasn’t much information back then, so after the first surgery, my nose started to lift two years later and I went back to that old guy. My nose kept getting more and more upturned... It was really driving me insane. All I could see was my nose. I also went to a hospital in Gangnam and had a CT scan, and there was an L-shaped implant inside. On top of that, they said they hardly used any ear cartilage, so there was a lot left lol. I really wanted to kill him.. I’ve had revision surgery again now. It’s been about 3 months since the revision. I hope you research carefully and get your revision done well too.

[@알럽유덴] Fortunately, my first surgery was closed rhinoplasty, so they couldn't touch the septal cartilage.. I confirmed on CT that it remains as is.. They guessed that even though an L-shaped one was inserted, since my nose has a semi-upturned curved shape, cartilage was probably placed at the end of the L-shape.

I also had an L-shape, then had it removed and my nose was so small and low that I raised it again. But it’s just that you’re shocked and annoyed because you only found out now; the situation itself hasn’t changed, and nothing huge is about to happen right away, right? Take your time and look into it.

I had my surgery in 2021 and they still shoved in an L-shaped siliconeㅋㅋㅋ I only found out when I had my revision. I didn’t even want a higher bridge; the whole surgery was just to make the tip slimmer, but my tip actually got more blunt than before surgery and turned into a bulbous nose (before surgery, I’d never once been told I had a bulbous nose). I kept wondering why, and then I was told they had put Medpor in the tip, and the scar tissue around it filled up so much that it made my nose bigger than before ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Other plastic surgery clinics were all using straight silicone with autologous costal cartilage / septal cartilage / ear cartilage, but mine was the only one left behind, putting Medpor into an L-shaped silicone that nobody uses anymoreㅋㅋㅋㅋ That old man was stubborn and had a weird personality, and since he never updated, it feels like he was living alone in a world from 15 years ago^^ Still, for you and the others, it was surgery from 15 years ago, so it’s not that unfair; mine was in 2021 and they still did this, so I’m furious and could explode

I'm getting my L-shaped silicone removed on Monday and having I-shaped silicone inserted, with the nose tip done using autologous costal cartilageㅠ Mine is 8.9 years old too I kept thinking, no way, no way, but it really was L-shapedㅎㅎ;; I only found out after the CT.. On YouTube they say L-shapes have to be removed no matter what So I got scared and kept looking for a month had consultations and I'm having surgery next Monday But honestly, I don't have the confidence to take the implant outㅜ I feel like I'll get uglier My nose is pretty now and I'm satisfied with it But since it's L-shaped.. I also had surgery with an L shape and ear cartilage (the ear cartilage was used like a cap on top), and I think I understand what you mean by the discomfort at the columella lol Because this was a full silicone implant, I think it felt even more so than the newer method of doing the tip and bridge separately ㅠㅠ But isn't the removal cost way too expensive?.. I left the ear cartilage in and only removed the silicone, and I didn't have any collapse or contracture symptoms! Both surgeries were done closed, and I think the hospital where I had the removal consultation was scaring me too much.. I heard that if it's only L-shaped silicone there is a risk of the silicone protruding, but if autologous cartilage is placed on the tip, there usually isn't a big problem! Still, because people keep saying L shapes are so risky, I was also scared psychologically and felt it was too much like a man's nose, so I had it removed. It's been about 3 to 4 years since removal, and the shape is a bit disappointing so I'm looking into surgery again ㅜㅜㅋㅋ

I had Gore-Tex put in 22 years ago, but suddenly the nasal dorsum contracted and it became an upturned nose, so I corrected it by lowering the nostril rim at the nasal tip. There weren't any particularly major complications.

Oh no, isn't that the same clinic as mine? It seems almost ruined now;; Anyway.. I was told they used straight silicone with cartilage tying and donor costal cartilage, roughly like that, but it seems like my nose has inflammation. After more than ten years, I got a CT scan and there was only L-shaped silicone sitting there... In the end, I had the inflammation, capsule, and everything removed... and I lost my original nasal bone ^^(They said the L-shaped silicone moved inside my nose and dissolved the bone)

Isn't that seriously psychopathic?????? The clinic I went to hasn't gone under. It's a really large factory-style place in Gangnam
