After only thinking about it for 10 years, I finally had rhinoplasty 6 days ago with 1 mm silicone and an ear cartilage support strut, and yesterday, on day 5, I had some stitches removed and the splint removed.
But there was a lot of blood pooled between my brows and on both sides of the nasal bridge, so the swelling was severe. Strangely, though, I didn’t feel like there was blood coming out of my nose or that it hurt.
The nurse said she was going to squeeze out the blood and pressed hard with both fingers, and it hurt so much I thought I was going to faint. I can tolerate most kinds of pain, but I got dizzy, my breathing got faster, I felt lightheaded, and it hurt so much I felt like I was going to throw up.
The director took a look and said I should go straight into the operating room so they could squeeze out the blood. They squeezed out the pooled blood from inside my nose, irrigated it, and I came out.
I received anti-inflammatory medication and antibiotics for two days through today, and when I checked from this morning, the swelling and the pooled blood had improved a lot. Of course, the blood wasn’t completely gone.
When I asked if anything had gone wrong, the director said I would need to wait as it gradually gets absorbed into the tissue.
I thought the major swelling would settle by around day 6, but because blood pooled, things got really complicated, and the area between my brows and my nasal bridge still look like Avatar. I hope it keeps improving.
