Last October, I removed silicone from my nasal bridge that had been in for over 20 years, and now almost a year has already passed. At first, even 6 months felt slow, but looking back, it went by in an instant... Time really is strange. lol
Anyway, about 20 years ago, I had only 1 mm of silicone inserted in my nasal bridge, and because of the foreign-body sensation and discomfort, I always wanted to remove it. But it’s easy to say, and actually going to a hospital wasn’t easy. Then, a few years ago, when I wasn’t feeling well and was receiving acupressure treatment, the nasal bridge area was pressed hard. After that, whenever I lay on my side, I kept having the sensation that the silicone was shifting toward the floor, and that was the decisive reason I made up my mind to have it removed. With so much fear and worry, I went back and forth between countless hospitals and the internet for consultations and 고민, and eventually had it removed. The hospitals said there would probably be no particular problems after removal, but I couldn’t shake off my worry until the end, and during the removal process, my concern turned out not to be unfounded...; It turned out that the silicone inside had holes in it. This had become one with my skin over more than 20 years, so it was really difficult to remove. The doctor struggled for quite a while and pulled with all their strength to get it out, and as a result, the skin color on my nasal bridge where the holes in the silicone had been turned bright red. It got to the point where I couldn’t go out unless I applied a thick layer of BB cream. It wasn’t just the color; only that area was lower than the surrounding skin, and it felt as if a thin layer had lifted away from inside. I spent each day worried and anxious about what would happen if this condition continued.
Then maybe after about two or three months? I felt like the skin had become a little thicker, but the color was still red. After 6 months passed, the color faded a bit. Now it has recovered to the point where it looks okay unless you look closely, but even now, if I raise my eyebrows, it shows that the skin on that part of my nose is thinner than the surrounding area. On top of that, I can feel whitish scar tissue around it..ㅜ Still, I think this much is okay. I can now go out again without BB cream. Also, I can’t help but be so happy that I got my own nose back, with no foreign-body sensation. The only thing I regret is all those years I spent only thinking that I wanted to remove it. If I had removed it earlier, my nose would have been comfortable, and I probably could have had it removed without particular side effects. Well, my case was very old, so I don’t know if it will be helpful, but I suddenly thought of this community, where I had received a lot of help, so I’m leaving this review.
I hope everyone who is worrying a lot right now has a successful removal.
