Hello I’ll write a review one month after having early removal on day 28 after my first surgery.
First, I had a wide nose (the doctor said it wasn’t a full-on bulbous nose) with almost no nasal bridge at all. I had it raised using 5 mm silicone, ear cartilage, and septal cartilage (extension support), but because of the enormous foreign-body sensation and hardness from the septum, and above all because it turned into a crazy shape like a Pinocchio nose / new hawk nose, I judged that this was not swelling and had it removed early.
Last time I wrote that contracture had started, but now, thankfully, I can see it coming down compared to then. And in the morning it goes up, during the day it comes down, and in the evening it goes up again. After nose removal, I really feel that the shape changes every day.
Also, after the removal surgery, I couldn’t check the foreign materials that came out of my nose, so I had thoughts like, did they really remove everything? I thought the nasal tip height or length would drop sharply right away, but the shape was the same, that strange nose shape from right after surgery.. So until about 3 days before writing this post? I was still searching reviews in this community and worrying, but it seems to be coming down very slowly. It seems there are cases like mine where it doesn’t get lower immediately after removal! Please keep that in mind.
So am I satisfied?? Not yet..
The swelling seems to have gone down a little now, and the shape that made me distressed after removal seems okay enough to go around without a mask, but it feels like there’s scar tissue stuck all over the nasal tip. That doesn’t mean it’s visibly obvious; it’s more like I can feel it when I touch it, and I can see it only when I look really closely in the mirror? So I’m doing warm compresses morning and evening. Since a month has passed, it may not help, but I plan to keep doing it, thinking it’s better than not doing it.
And the hardness has loosened a lot too. When I touch it now, it’s not exactly soft, but it isn’t hard..? I guess? It’s hard to describe. Anyway, it has improved. The columella still feels like it isn’t my own nose when I touch it..? People who have had surgery will know what that feels like. That feeling is still there.
Because I had open surgery twice within one month, I was very worried about a columellar scar. Three weeks after removal, I confirmed that the columellar wound was healing, and since then I’ve been applying Benxlox gel (scar ointment). Maybe because of that, the distinct line has disappeared, but it’s still dark and patchy. I plan to apply it until it goes away, for up to about 3 months.
When I leave reviews, I often get messages asking when daily life is possible after removal and whether people notice. This Lunar New Year, my family gathered and talked, and no one noticed. They probably didn’t know I had cosmetic surgery in the first place, so they wouldn’t know.. What I want to say is that the changes and strangeness I feel in my nose don’t seem to be felt by others to that extent!
I think contracture is still ongoing (a tightening feeling at times? and an upturned feeling), and the nasal tip is still large and upturned (since my original nose was wide..) and blunt, and there is scar tissue, so I think I need to keep watching the shape going forward.
After removing the extension, the doctor said cartilage tying was necessary to prepare for collapse, and I thought it would be best to leave it to a specialist as much as possible, so after removal, I had the cartilage tied. I was worried and asked if it would make the nose look pinched, and I was told that wouldn’t happen, then proceeded. Maybe thanks to that, honestly I like my nose more than my original nose.. because I thought my original nose was really not good.. To the question, “Did it return to your original nose after removal?” my answer is: the feeling returned, but it is not exactly the same.
Since the shape changes often.. I think it’s best to look in the mirror as little as possible. The feeling that it changes day by dayㅠㅠ
I’ll leave another review.
