It has been 6 years since I had rhinoplasty. My nose wasn't low, and I did have a nasal bridge, but it was slightly wide, so I had silicone implant insertion, osteotomy, and nasal tip surgery with ear cartilage.
An older friend and a younger friend of mine had really successful nose surgeries, and I decided to have surgery after seeing only their results. If I had known about this community back then... I still feel regret.
I thought side effects had nothing to do with me, and without thinking about discomfort, I only hoped to become prettier. I got on the operating table, and the surgical result was very good.
The swelling wasn't severe, and it came out so natural yet pretty that even my parents, who had opposed the surgery, were very satisfied.
After spending a month like that, a problem occurred. Blood suddenly pooled in my nose. My nose became extremely swollen, so the next day they drained the blood with a syringe.
About 15 days later, blood filled up again... and while draining the pooled blood, scar tissue built up and my nose started to feel tight.
That was when I learned about contracture and found this community cafe... There were so many people like me...
I thought I might even develop a mental illness. Because of the pulling sensation in my nose that felt like it would lift all the way up to the sky, I couldn't sleep, and several times a day I went back and forth between this community and Knowledge iN, terrified that contracture might occur. I couldn't go outside, and my nerves were on edge. I didn't want to think about it, so I just slept, and as soon as I woke up I looked in the mirror to see whether my nose had been pulled up. Every morning, I took profile photos with a camera to check for contracture.
Fortunately, contracture did not occur, and after taking 2 bottles of Rizaben, the scar tissue also loosened before I knew it. Nearly 5 years passed, and now... blood has pooled again.
They said the amount of pooled blood wasn't large, so I took medication for 3 days while watching the progress... In the end, today they made a small incision between my eyebrows, inserted a syringe, and drew out the blood.
They said that for people like me who had the surgery a long time ago, because of scar tissue, even if they try to draw it out through the nostril with a syringe, it often doesn't come out well.
Honestly, after rhinoplasty I heard a lot that I looked pretty, and I was satisfied myself too... But now, I would rather go back to my pre-surgery face, even if it was a little lacking. I want to live comfortably and lightly, without worrying about when inflammation might happen again.
Now that I'm in my late 20s, I realize there are many things more important than appearance and more things to worry about. Since my nose has ended up like this, I have to use vacation days from work to go to the hospital, and I can't concentrate on work either...
If you are having surgery because it is truly a complex, then I don't know... but if it is not a major issue, I hope you live with your own nose.
If you are still debating whether or not you should have surgery... don't do it... This is what I really want to say as someone who has experienced it.
The surgery may go well and you may live with it for 10 or 20 years... but like me, you never know when side effects may appear.
