I had nose surgery as soon as 2012 began, and back then I was young and didn’t know anything, so I didn’t know what side effects there could be, and I didn’t really know what was being put into my nose. I just went ahead and did itㅠ
My mom had nose surgery when she was single and it’s still fine even now, so I thought it must be okay, and I didn’t shop around for consultations. I just had it done at the place where my mom had hers.
After the surgery was all done, I found out what L-shaped silicone was and what the side effects were. I was scared, but back then I was a student, didn’t have money, and didn’t have any side effects, so I just lived with it.
Then starting this winter, I made up my mind to have it removed, and I went to the hospital where I originally had it done. They said it was fine and that this would last a lifetime? That’s what they said. I didn’t believe them, though.... Also, when I lay on my side, I felt like the silicone was shifting, and actually, if I lay on my side, supported my nasal tip with my finger, and then let go, the silicone felt like it sagged? It felt heavy. But the hospital said it absolutely does not move and that it was psychologicalㅋㅋㅋㅋ
After that, I went to hospitals in Seoul. I had consultations at ㄱㅇㅅ and ㅍㄹㅁ. Both said it was true that it was moving. Their surgical methods also matched, saying both places would do it with a closed approach. Their opinions differed on capsule removal. At ㅍㄹㅁ, they said if I was going to have revision surgery, then let’s do open surgery + capsule removal, but I absolutely did not want revision surgeryㅠㅠ I just wanted to live with my own nose, so after debating between the two hospitals, I had it done at ㄱㅇㅅ.
During that time, I had also had things like bumps? really painful pimples? on my nose, and since it had been quite a while since the silicone was inserted, I was worried there might have been mild inflammation or passing inflammation, so I even had the capsule removed.
ㅍㄹㅁ and ㄱㅇㅅ were the same price, and I chose local anesthesiaㅠㅠ Even during my first surgery I cried while having it done, but I had never had sedation anesthesia before, so that scared me in its own way, and I decided to just endure it one more timeㅜㅜㅜ
When they were preparing for surgery, the operating room nurses were really kind. They kept asking if I was okay, and explained things like, this is such-and-such, this won’t hurt, please tell us if it hurts, and so on. They took care of the detailsㅠㅠ
I think the surgery took about 10 minutes? As expected, the anesthetic injection hurt so much that I almost screamedㅠㅠㅠ Even though I really tried not to tense my face, there was no way not toㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ And more than removing the silicone, the feeling of removing the capsuleㅠㅠㅠ still gives me chills a bit. It didn’t hurt, but I could hear? feel? the scrapingㅠㅠ I could also feel the suturing.
After the surgery was all over, seeing the capsule and silicone that had been inside my nose was so grossㅜㅜㅜㅜ I can’t believe something like that was inside my nose... The tail end of the silicone also seemed a bit long,... Anyway, I rested a bit in the recovery room, then stayed at lodging I had booked nearby, didn’t step outside for all 4 days, rested, did cold compresses, and this morning I removed the splint by myselfㅜㅜ The clinic is closed today,,. But I removed it gently and it seems okay!
I normally have a runny nose easilyㅜㅜㅜ Regardless of the type of food, as long as I eat something, my nose runs nonstop, so it was really hard, and it’s still really hard now. I can’t blow my nose, and if I sniff in, the nasal bridge? glabella? area hurtsㅜㅜㅜㅜ I can’t even wipe it off. On the first day, nasal discharge kept touching the sutured area, so it stung and burnedㅠㅠ I don’t have that now, but sometimes the sutured area hurts, and sometimes the nasal bridge throbs. I guess it’s because I still haven’t recovered yetㅠㅠㅠㅠ I’m hoping time passes quicklyㅠㅠㅠ
Anyway, people who have had removal are really, really amazing, and everyone who is suffering? because of removal, stay strongㅠㅠ
