Complete Nose Implant Removal and Revision Surgery Afterward.. This Is a Long Review.

(First nose surgery) Around early 2017, I had nose surgery at a large four-character hospital near Gangnam Station that starts with T, using donated costal cartilage, ear cartilage, and 3 cm of silicone. Donated costal cartilage had not been planned, but they gave me some bullshit saying they had no choice but to use it because my nasal septum was not sufficient. They barely screened the beds off with thin curtains, and I could clearly see other patients having surgery and rambling nonsense while under sedation. I should have run out right then... Was I possessed? I just wanted to quickly get revision surgery on my nose and eyes and become even prettier. (My eyes were also completely botched, but this is a nose surgery review so I will not write about that separately.) Afterward, because my nose looked upturned, pointy, and like it had been pinched with a clothespin, my overall impression became severely unattractive, and after about a month of stress, I went ahead with early removal.

(Complete removal) After the nose surgery, my nose became upturned and pinched, and because the stress from that was so extreme, I thought that simply getting a complete removal would bring my pretty face back. The hospital also confidently assured me that after removal, 80-90% of it would return to something like my original nose. I had the removal done at TM, which has two branches, one in Incheon and one in Apgujeong. Right before the surgery, when I was signing the consent form, unlike the confident tone they had used during the consultation, the coordinator explained that at least about 60% would return, but they were kind, and I trusted the doctor’s confident tone without a doubt. After the removal, my nose was swollen to about the size of a five-year-old child’s fist, and that swelling lasted for a month. The hospital tried to brush off the fact that they had wrecked my nose by saying that after one month there would be a contraction phase and that it would get better if I massaged it well, but as the swelling went down, my nose had already shriveled. That was around February-March of last year... I was not extremely pretty, but I never heard anyone say I was ugly anywhere I went, and I lived with a fair amount of pride in my appearance, with a round and gentle impression. I should have stopped at the right time, but I thought I was being punished by heaven because I had touched my original nose, which people had always called pretty and which did not need to be touched. I tried to hang myself dozens of times, and in front of my mom I hurt her with words I should never have said, saying I wanted to die... Each time, my mom comforted her worthless daughter, saying she would pay for my surgery... that even if it cost ten million won or twenty million won, she would do it... asking how this mother could fail to fix her own daughter’s one nose again... With that shrunken nose, I spent last spring hiding at home, just eating, sleeping, going to the bathroom, and crying like a rat... I cried every day looking in the mirror, and I could not even watch variety shows on TV. When I saw female celebrities around my age on them with natural and pretty noses, I felt like I would fall apart again... Around June, I went for consultations at MDR and GY, which are famous for noses. The nose removal had been in February, and I went for consultations believing that by fall, six months would have passed, the tissue would have stabilized, and reconstruction would be possible. But at MDR, I heard the devastating(?) words that I had contracture and that they would see me next winter, and GY also told me to come back at least six months from then. Those doctors were right, but I still felt resentful. I wanted to kill the TM doctor, who had such shitty skill that if they had done nothing I would at least have been average, but instead made my nose half-disabled with an excessive removal, and then I wanted to die right away too... But I had realized through several suicide attempts that even dying is difficult, so once again I shut myself in at home, cried, ate, fell asleep drunk... I spent a summer not even knowing what mental state I was in... Around early August, I resolved that before the year ended, no matter what, I had to get revision surgery again. As for my nose condition, the shape was still like a skeletal Michael Jackson nose, but I felt as if the tissue had stabilized somewhat. I went around to various consultations, and among them, I set a revision surgery date for late August at a hospital recommended by an older woman I had met through a community, someone I had spent that hard period comforting each other with.

(Revision surgery) They lowered only the nasal tip using donated costal cartilage and ear cartilage, and I was told that my condition was worse than expected. The doctor explained to my mom, who had waited a long time, that because of the excessive removal, there was severe scar tissue, but that he had released it and lowered it as much as possible and removed what needed to be removed, and that the surgery went well. I had a splint and cotton packing for two weeks... and when they were removed... I thanked the heavens. My face had become harmonious, with my original impression intact. During the first surgery and the removal, when the splint came off, I felt, “Ah, I’m screwed... my impression is ruined,” but this time was different. Afterward, as the swelling went down, my nostrils showed slightly more than with my original nose, and the nostril asymmetry that happened after the removal could not be perfectly restored. But at least I returned to a gentle impression, and after living like a hikikomori for eight months, I started working part-time, dating, and from the beginning of this year I got a job and entered social life again.

*After my nose revision surgery, I did not come into this community much, but I happened to come in today. It seems there are still people having a hard time, so thinking of myself last year, I am writing this long post. Unless your nose hurts or your impression has changed so severely that social life is impossible, removal is not always the answer. It is best to touch the nose as little as possible, and if you have already touched it, try to adapt as much as possible and live with it, or if there are no major side effects, just live with it. Especially do not remove it. Even among the reviews here that say removal went well, if you look closely, many people say that after removal their nose looks scooped out, the columella contracted, and it feels like it was cut. You will not die just because there is something inside your nose. Removal is also surgery, and people remove even noses with no problems as if it is a trend, saying they want to become natural again. But doing that does not bring it back, the nose remains hard, and a nose that has been touched once does not become natural just because you remove everything. You need to have revision surgery so it looks as natural as possible.. That was my long review as someone who suffered because of her nose. Here are the photos.. I deleted the photos from my first nose surgery, so I do not have them. First) Two months after removal Second and third) After revision surgery. Photos taken one week ago
