Hello haha I always just lurked, but today I’m writing a post myself
I first had rhinoplasty in the winter of 2010. But less than a week later, I had it removed because of a silicone allergy, and 6 months later, in the summer of 2011, I had revision surgery. I was a high school student then, so I was very young, and because I didn’t know anything, I just did whatever the doctor did. Even though it was my first surgery, donated costal cartilage was used, and after the revision surgery, something protruded from my nostril wing area as you can see in photo 1. When I went to the hospital and asked, they said it was scar tissue, and that if I wanted, they could give me an injection, but it might become depressed. I was too young and scared, so I just went home.
After that, whenever I stayed overseas for a long time, I worried, what if the silicone comes out of my nose?? When I was a student, I was busy attending school, and I also went overseas twice, and last year I was preparing for employment, so I had no time for surgery. I considered revision surgery, but I didn’t want to put anything into my nose again, and I also didn’t know much about removal, so I was very afraid. But every time I looked at my nose, I sighed, and I became really depressed. There wasn’t much I could do about the crooked columella, but something was bulging out around my nostril wing area, and the silicone showed through at the nasal tip ㅠㅠ While searching Google for nose removal, I found this community, looked through information, and I ended up having removal surgery too!
Photos 1 and 2 are before the removal surgery. If you look at photo 1, you’ll know how serious it was.
I had the donated costal cartilage and silicone completely removed, and had cartilage repositioning as well. On day 5, the stitches around the columella were removed; on day 9, the stitches near the nostril entrance were removed; the inside stitches were dissolvable, so they weren’t removed.
But what surprised me during the removal was... they said the incision method used by the hospital that did my previous surgery was an old method, not a method designed to avoid scarring... They asked if I had it done by a non-specialist... I had it done by a board-certified plastic surgeon at a hospital that wasn’t cheap... shocking... And after surgery, I heard that three layers of costal cartilage had been inserted..
So my columella area and nostril wing area are still very swollen! You’ll know if you look at photos 3 and 4! It hasn’t been long since surgery, so the contracture phase hasn’t come yet, but I hope the skin heals well and that it doesn’t contract haha
And if there are any seniors who have had removal, may I ask a question?? I have a contracted nose, and even now my nasal tip is very upturned. I heard that if I get stem cell injections, the nasal tip loosens a lot and comes down! Has anyone tried this?? For now, I booked an appointment for the week after next, but I’m worried because I don’t have information!!

Anyway, my nose is still very swollen, and it feels uncomfortable if I make exaggerated facial expressions or laugh, but after removing it, I feel so relieved haha I really hope it doesn’t contract, the swelling goes down well, and I can live happily without any problems!
It hurts my heart so much that for 8 years, I lived feeling so upset about my youth because of a bad rhinoplasty ㅠㅠ I wish doctors without conscience would disappear.. And among those reading this post, if you are considering rhinoplasty... please don’t do it ㅠㅠ
