I had LASEK when I was 24, and before that I had only worn orthokeratology lenses. I had been wearing orthokeratology lenses since elementary school, and I tried circle lenses, which were really popular when I was in middle school, only twice and never wore them again. Maybe that’s why, or maybe not, but when I had the pre-LASEK exam, they said my corneas were thick and healthy, so I could even have repeat surgery three or four times if needed. Then I had the surgery right away, and both eyes have stayed at 1.0 until now. About 3 years ago, I had strabismus correction surgery with a famous professor at a university hospital, and at that time the professor was amazed and said my LASEK had been done really well. Thank you to the director who did my LASEK. My older sister went for an exam to get LASEK at the same place where I had mine done. My sister had worn lenses very frequently, including soft lenses, circle lenses, and hard lenses, basically nonstop since high school. Maybe because of that, or because her corneas were not in good condition, the director refused to do the surgery. So she had it done at another hospital, and as expected, her side effects are severe, and her vision is continuing to decline now.. I really think there is a reason when they say they won’t do it. Everyone, be careful and think carefully no matter what surgery it is.
