People around me had this surgery at this hospital a lot, so I made a reservation expecting to get the examination and surgery on the same day. The original price was 5.5 million, but I got a 500,000 student discount, so I had the surgery for 5 million. <Examination> - I remember the exam fee was 50,000 won Rather than one optometrist examining my eyes the whole time, I would wait in the lobby on the examination side, and whenever the optometrist called my name with “Mr./Ms. OOO~?” I would go in and get examined. I came in planning to get SMILE LASIK, but they said my cornea was too thin, so I went into the consultation room partway through and was told I needed lens implant surgery. (Corneal thickness in both eyes was around 470.) They said to let them know whether I would have the surgery only after all the tests were done, so I went through the tests needed for lens implantation. If I were to have surgery today, I also consulted with the doctor who would perform it. Again, they recommended against surgery unless it was lens implantation because my cornea was too thin. (They were kind!) I came only thinking about SMILE LASIK, so I didn’t look up which doctor at this hospital was best at lens implantation, and just booked with the doctor available for same-day surgery. <When waiting between appointments> I had to eat and also get the medicine prescribed in advance. <Surgery> About an hour before the surgery, I waited in the lobby and received pupil-dilating eye drops, which I had to put in every 10 minutes or so. When it was time for surgery, I went into the operating room. I could wear the surgical gown over my regular clothes, and they set up my hair for me too. The operating room was very cold, but they covered me with something like a blanket. I lay down right away, and except for my eyes they placed a cloth over my face, and the surgery was done one eye at a time with one eye open (right then left). What I had to do during the surgery was just look at the middle of the three lights in the operating room, but at first it was too bright and hard. Still, after watching it for a while, I got used to it. The hardest part during surgery was when the doctor said, “I’m going to rotate the lens~” and did something inside my eye, it felt like someone was grinding a millstone in my eye. (Still, I remember the comforting voice in the middle saying things like “We’re almost done~~”.) <Right after surgery> After the surgery, I held the nurse’s hand and went to the recovery room. After keeping my eyes closed for about 20 minutes and then opening them, I was amazed that things far away were immediately clear. So I just kept my eyes open from then on. After about 40 minutes in the recovery room, I got checked by the doctor to confirm the surgery went well, and then went home. On the way home, near things were blurry like presbyopia, and only faraway things were clear. And before surgery I had been told I’d have severe glare, but on the way home it was like countless fireworks were going off for me (Probably only people who’ve had it will know.) <1 day after surgery> As soon as I woke up, even nearby things were clear. Looking at strong light made my eyes hurt a little. I went back to the hospital that day for another exam, and another doctor checked that the surgery had gone well (about 10 minutes total..) My vision was immediately 1.2 in both eyes. <1 week after surgery> Because I had been wearing colored contacts, my bare eyes felt a little unfamiliar, but in terms of comfort it was absolutely the best. I was worried because there were no reviews about the doctor who performed my surgery, but he was really kind, and my friend who had lens implantation at another hospital said her eyes hurt a lot for quite a while, while mine didn’t hurt at all~ and I went straight back to daily life. If there was any inconvenience, it was just not being able to wash my face or hair for 3 days!
