First, before surgery my vision was -4 in both eyes, and now both eyes are slightly under 1.5 I had astigmatism in one eye, but it wasn’t severe I wanted to finally get vision correction surgery after putting it off and off, so I went for a consultation at the end of last year The clinic I went to was really a LASIK/LASEK factory, so there were tons of people lol A friend had LASEK at the same clinic a month earlier and said if I gave their name, I’d get an acquaintance discount, so I went right away without shopping around Later I realized there were really a lot of acquaintances who had eye surgery at the same place Because of that, the doctors also had a lot of surgical experience, so it actually made me feel reassured haha I was planning to use up my remaining vacation days at the end of the year and get surgery, so I wanted to get into surgery as soon as possible The clinic said the doctor most famous for LASEK didn’t have an available schedule so I just asked them to match me with any available doctor Since I didn’t choose the doctor myself, I don’t have much to say about that, As for LASEK, I wanted LASIK, but LASIK was more demanding to manage than I expected (no rubbing your eyes, etc.), so I decided to do LASEK They also said during the consultation that LASEK has better stability... !!!!!!Whether you do LASIK or LASEK isn’t necessarily something you decide yourself; it can be determined after an eye exam based on corneal thickness, whether you have dry eye, and so on So it’s better to get a detailed eye exam and decide!!!!!! Advantages of LASEK [1] Recovery is fast (compared with conventional LASEK) I did Two-Day LASEK, and an acquaintance who had LASEK a few years ago said with the technology at the time, they basically had to stay shut in their room for an entire week But I went to work exactly on day 4 Since I work in a field where I look at a computer, it was hard constantly looking at the screen, but I managed with artificial tears After a week, it didn’t hurt at all and there was no foreign body sensation [2] Vision recovers quickly When I went for my checkup one month after surgery, each eye had already gone up to around 1.2 Now they say both eyes together are almost 1.5 When in my life did I ever see this well... I’d worn glasses since elementary school... Disadvantages [1] It hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts!!!!!!!!! No, everyone says it didn’t hurt as much as expected? Was it just me? The actual surgery ends in about exactly 5 minutes? But once I came out of the operating room and the anesthesia wore off..... wow I seriously cried my eyes out in the recovery room. My eyes stung so much, burned so much, and I couldn’t even scratch them... It hurt so much that I put my head in the corner of the recovery room and sobbed for 30 minutes, then calmed down and went home Thank goodness I had someone with me; I don’t think I could have gone home alone For about 3 days after surgery, I stayed stuck at home, put in artificial tears once an hour, and couldn’t even eat properly [2] Halos/glare But this might be an issue with my eyes? During the eye exam, they said my pupils were larger than average, so I might have halos/glare, and actually at night things seem to spread slightly Still, it’s okay. It’s not enough to cause problems with driving Conclusion: highly recommend~! LASIK/LASEK is better to do when you’re young Before, whenever I had plans or went out to have fun, I always had the hassle of bringing glasses or contact lenses Now I can just remove my makeup and lie down... it’s a whole new world Now I don’t have to take out lenses when taking a nap, and I don’t have to keep buying super expensive daily disposable lenses As long as you manage it well early on, after that it seems like a surgery with great value for money ** I was recommended Extra corneal strengthening? and did it, but that alone was over one million won Since the surgical area is the eyes, I thought if I didn’t do it and felt uncomfortable later, that would be an even bigger problem, so I did it, but whether it’s effective? If you exclude this cost, the price drops a lot, so after the eye exam, if the doctor doesn’t recommend it, I think you don’t necessarily need to do it I had some dry eye, so I just did it Later I searched online and saw a lot of debate about whether it’s necessary lololol
