Nose Surgery Review

I’m going to talk through what things were like when I had nose surgery~ If you’re getting nose surgery, I think you can just read this lightly and use it as a reference^^ My surgery was scheduled for the first morning slot, 10:30 a.m. They said I should arrive one hour earlier, by 9:30 a.m., so I arrived on time. Oh! They told me to wear a button-up shirt or zip-up style clothing on the day of surgery so it would be easy to put on and take off. Pants and clothes should be comfortable too, not too tight~ But honestly, I think I sat in the waiting chair for about 50 minutes. Around the time I started worrying that maybe I’d have to go into surgery without even having the pre-op consultation, they called me and I went into a place labeled recovery room. Inside, in the changing room, I took everything off, including my glasses and even my underwear, and came out wearing gown-style top and pants. Then they guided me to the restroom and said they had to disinfect the inside of my mouth, so I put a very hospital-smelling orange-colored!? or I guess I should say that kind of colored solution in my mouth and gargled. A little later, I went into a small private room with a staff member, and they pulled my bangs back with a hairband like they were trying to pull my soul out, and took photos. Front. Left side. Right side. Looking up at the ceiling, then front again with my head tilted upward..... They said the photos would be used for the hospital to keep on file. No matter how prettily I had dressed up for them, it felt like the purpose of the photos was to bring out my maximum ugliness so they’d come out awful. Anyway, after all the photos were taken, I waited a little again and then was guided to the operating room. At first I wondered why I was being taken to the recovery room, but the operating room was inside the recovery room. I think it looked different from the operating room I had imagined. It was cramped and the atmosphere was... kind of like a small hospital endoscopy room... They told me to sit on the operating table, so when I climbed up and sat down, the staff member in the operating room asked me several things. Whether I clench or grind my teeth while sleeping, whether I have any weak teeth, whether I’m allergic to any foods or medications, and whether I’d had any side effects before.. After I answered everything, the director who would perform the surgery came in, checked once again what we had discussed during the previous consultation, and I think we had a very brief conversation. After that, I lay back down, and the staff member inserted a needle into a vein in my arm and trimmed my nose hairs with small scissors, snip snip. And since we had decided to use ear cartilage, they left only my left ear exposed and taped up my head area a lot. They said they would test in advance because there could be side effects when the antibiotic was administered, but whether they did it while doing something else or not, I don’t know when that happened... Maybe I missed it because the two of them were moving so quickly and in such an organized way... Anyway, then they said that even if I closed my eyes during surgery, the light could still be dazzling, so they would put medicine in my eyes, and when they put eye drops in both eyes, it became hard to open my eyes, like they had glued them shut with wood glue.. As I lay there with my eyes closed, the last thing I heard was, “The sleep medication is going in gradually now, so you’ll fall asleep.” After that, I just have no memory. Since I had sedation anesthesia, when I woke up, the surgery was over and I was lying in the recovery room. How did I get to the recovery room? That large bed couldn’t have come through the narrow hallway, so I must have walked in on my own feet, but I don’t remember at all... I think I just had various dreams while sleeping. I don’t remember what they were, though.. I rested in the recovery room until my mind cleared a bit, then put on the mask the hospital gave me, wore the cap I had brought backwards, and since I couldn’t wear glasses, I just went bare-eyed~ I got two weeks’ worth of prescription medication, took a taxi, and came home. Even until I was eating dinner at home, it didn’t hurt much, and I just thought maybe having a little trouble breathing was the hard part, without thinking much of it.. But when night came, my nose hurt so much, I couldn’t breathe through my nose, and having to breathe only through my mouth was so miserable. After that, I think I took painkillers for about five days. It wasn’t too bad during the day, but it hurt so much at night. And as time went on, not being able to breathe and having the splint on became more and more painful and felt like torture. I seriously felt like ripping everything off ㅜㅜ When night comes, everything is quiet and your body becomes sensitive, so it feels like it’s just me and my nose... All my nerves are focused on my nose..... Since I couldn’t even lie down properly to sleep, I couldn’t get deep sleep, and even if I barely fell asleep, I’d wake up at dawn. Sigh. I really don’t think it’s easyㅜㅜ Oh, and because you breathe only through your mouth, your lips and the inside of your mouth get completely dried out.. If you don’t make sure to bring lip balm and apply it generously all the time, your lips crack like drought-cracked ground... I’ve just rambled on with no real order. I just wrote this out because I thought it might be nice if there were parts you could refer to~ Then I’ll be going now!!!
