Long post warning I had zygoma reduction surgery last spring. (Non-fixation)
My cheekbones were so large that I heard all kinds of insulting comments from my ex-boyfriend’s friends, like that I looked Mongolian.. My face overall is small and my jaw is also very slim, so that may have made my cheekbones look even bigger.. Anyway, with just one strong desire to reduce my cheekbones.. I decided on facial contouring surgery, even though it is said to have many side effects.
The first day of surgery.. I do not remember anything because of the anesthesia, and when I came out after surgery.. it was really, really hard. My whole face swelled so severely..ㅠㅠ People say that if you do non-fixation surgery, you can go to work after a week and return to daily life.. Not at all.. Facial swelling, bruising.. and you also have to wear a compression band.. Realistically, it makes no sense. If you are planning surgery, please take a long vacation before doing it..
The biggest downside of non-fixation is that after surgery you have to keep going to the hospital so they can push the cheekbones in.. Having the cheekbones pushed in.. seriously.. you see hell. I told the doctor that the right side seemed to have gone in a little less... The doctor felt it and then pushed the cheekbone in ruthlessly and fiercely. I heard the bone sound and it hurt so much. I really thought I was going to die.. It hurts so much. I cried, screamed, and made a sceneㅡㅡ.. I went to the hospital to have the cheekbones pushed in, maybe once a week or once every two weeks. After doing that a few times, the bone hardened, and they said it was now firm so they could not push it in anymore and told me not to come, so I stopped going.
Also, after zygoma reduction surgery, the cheekbones feel much weaker, so sleeping face down is a little uncomfortable. Seriously, it feels like if someone even slapped my cheek, my cheekbone would collapse, so I have to be careful.
Some clinics say that with non-fixation or quick zygoma reduction, you can eat hard foods within a few days, but in my experience, I did not eat them. It may vary by person, but I could not put strength into my cheekbones. I could not eat. For one month after surgery, absolutely do not eat hard or tough foods.. I only ate things like ramen porridge and pumpkin porridge. Of course, I did not completely avoid them for the full month, but I think I tried not to eat them. Anyway, my satisfaction with my zygoma surgery is quite high. What I slightly regret now is that the doctor said if the 45-degree cheekbone area is reduced a lot, facial sagging becomes severe, so they reduced the side cheekbones and only slightly adjusted the 45-degree area.. I think it would have been prettier if the 45-degree area had been reduced more..ㅠㅠ My cheekbones still bloom fully when I smile.
I did non-fixation, but.. if you want the cheekbones reduced naturally, I recommend non-fixation, and if you want a doll-like line, I think fixation would be better. If I could turn back time, I do think maybe I should have transformed completely with a doll-like line.. but I should be grateful and satisfied that I am living well without major side effects, right?
