One-Month Review After Long-Curve Square Jaw Surgery

It has been one month since I had long-curve square jaw surgery. (I didn’t do the chin.) Every time I took photos, the front view looked fine, but from the side my square jaw showed, so it stressed me out a lot and I got the surgery. An older friend I know had it done 2 years ago, and after seeing that it turned out well for her, I followed her example. I’m really satisfied. Before surgery, I thought square jaw surgery would be really painful because it’s a procedure that shaves down bone, but it didn’t hurt. I lay down in the operating room, and after the nurse said, “Now the medicine that makes you sleepy will go in~,” I closed my eyes and opened them, and the surgery was already over. During recovery, I was on an IV, so it didn’t hurt either. I think it was probably a painless injection. Right after surgery, I didn’t swell that much, but around day 3, my cheeks swelled up like a pufferfish to the point that my mouth looked small. After that, the swelling went down quickly day by day. I think it was because of the pumpkin juice!! For a few days after surgery, it was stuffy and hard to wear the tight compression thing (they called it a mask) every 4 hours, but I think it was worth enduring. Now at one month, my face has become slimmer in a really natural, unnoticeable way, so I like it a lot. But there are downsides too. Maybe because the surgery was done through an intraoral incision, food keeps getting stuck on the outside of my lower teeth. And when I touch it with my tongue, it feels like the incision line is bulging out. I think food gets stuck because of this line. Will this line go down? When will it go down?.. Also, lastly, it’s still a bit hard to open my mouth. Especially when I first open my mouth after waking up in the morning, my jaw hurts a lot, and there is pain when chewing too. I hope the pain goes away a bit faster.. This has been my surgery review so far~
