The photos are, in order, before removal / 4 days after removal / 3 weeks after removal. The nose shape looks so different depending on the angle, so please just take a rough look.
Today marks exactly 3 weeks since I had my 5-and-a-half-year-old L-shaped silicone implant, 3-4 mm on the nasal bridge and 5-6 mm at the nasal tip, plus ear cartilage removed through a closed approach (no capsule removal).
I had it removed because I could feel my nose gradually turning upward, and the nostril area was turning white as if blood wasn't circulating. That area kept spreading, and when I touched my nostrils, I sometimes felt a stinging pain. My biggest worry was contracture, but the clinics I consulted said it didn't seem to be contracture (though if the nose was definitely turning upward, removal would be needed), and that there didn't seem to be inflammation either.
I had heard that L-shaped silicone always makes the nose turn up, so I was really worried, but right after removal and up to one week after removal, my nostrils actually showed less than when I had the operated nose. From the second week, it lifted slightly, but I think it's the contraction phase.
Before removal, I looked in the mirror hundreds of times a day to check whether my nose had gone up or not, took hundreds of selfies checking the angle of my nose... I thought I was really going crazy, but after removing it, I don't have any of those worries and only look in the mirror two or three times a day haha But it did get uglier than my operated nose... yes... haha... The lower nasal bridge made more of a difference than I expected. For people who care a lot about aesthetics, I think you should consider removal carefully.
I had it removed under local anesthesia, so I was fully alert throughout the surgery, and the surgery really ended in under 5 minutes. It felt like they only removed it, so rather than thinking the doctor was highly skilled, I thought my nose must have been the kind that would be fine even after taking the silicone out, so I won't reveal the clinic name. I did also think a bit that if I had known it would be like this, I should have just removed it cheaply at the clinic where I originally had the surgery.
Anyway, I only had simple removal of thick L-shaped silicone and ear cartilage, but it hasn't turned up, so I'm living satisfied. For people who don't have major side effects but are removing implants out of anxiety, I think you'll probably be fine even after removal. There were fewer L-shaped silicone reviews than I expected, so I was really anxious until right before removal.... I hope this helps even a little for those with L-shaped silicone.
