I had 3-part facial contouring surgery in early August, and now about 1 month and 2 weeks have passed. Because it really is a major surgery, I thought hard about it and chose the hospital after going to consultations at several places. It was a hospital with a very long track record, and since it was a one-doctor clinic, I felt drawn to it. I was really nervous from a few days before the surgery, but after I went into the operating room and woke up from anesthesia, it was already over! From right after the surgery until I was discharged the next day, everything went by in a blur.
For the first week after surgery, it was not so much the pain, but the swelling that made it so hard. My eyes were swollen, I had bruising, and even my lips were swollen, so at first I looked really, really ugly. I was so puffed up that I honestly could not tell at all whether the surgery had gone well or what~ After a week, the major swelling went down a lot, and from day 10 I went back to work. Still, I think I was lucky because my swelling went down faster than other people’s. Even so, I was still very swollen until 2 weeks. On day 3 and at the 1-week mark, I kept going to the hospital and consistently received swelling care~
At week 2, I went to have the intraoral incision stitches removed, and for me it was truly so painful I almost fainted ㅠㅜ They removed them without anesthesia, and it felt like my gums were being cut with a knife? ㅠㅜ Even thinking about it now gives me chills; it hurt more than after the surgery was over! Still, after the intraoral stitches were removed, the rough feeling inside my mouth was gone, and up to the 1-month mark, a lot more swelling went down too! Good aftercare at the hospital really is important.
Once a week, I stopped by the hospital and received infrared swelling laser treatment, ultrasound massage, and plaster packs. And every time I went in for care, the director personally came to check whether the surgery had gone well and whether I had any discomfort! When I asked questions, he answered well and encouraged me a lot, telling me not to worry ㅠㅠ Maybe because it is a one-doctor clinic, I really liked how each person was cared for individually.
Now, 1 month and 2 weeks later, only the candy-like swelling and minor residual swelling remain, and I am living my daily life well without any particular discomfort. But I still cannot open my mouth widely, and they said I need to be careful about nonunion of the cheekbone until the 3-month mark, so I cannot eat tough or large foods lol ㅠ Right now I really want to eat gopchang. I especially love beef gopchang..ㅠ I want 3 months to pass quickly so I can eat lots of delicious food without worrying about nonunion!!!
Facial contouring is really not a minor surgery. It is not something you should do at just any hospital like filler. Please really go around to many places, compare them, make sure to check safety, and choose your hospital ㅠㅠ There are also a lot of problems these days ㅠㅠ I also looked up reviews because I was curious whether other people’s surgeries went well, and there really were many hospitals that just acted like it was not their problem ㅠㅠ I hope everyone getting surgery has good results~
