It's been 3 years since I got my braces off, and I've worn my retainer faithfully every time I sleep for the past 3 years. I had four premolars extracted, and I'm glad my teeth are now straight and even. The downside is that I got a lot of microcracks and my teeth have become much weaker? I really think aftercare is crucial for orthodontics. Looking at friends around me, I've seen several cases that ended badly because they didn't wear their retainers.
