In my mid-40s, after having 4 teeth extracted and finishing orthodontic treatment with lingual braces in 2 years, I currently wear my retainer every night to sleep. Maybe because I did lingual braces, unless it's someone close to me, people don't really know I'm in orthodontic treatment. On the other hand, because I couldn't chew food well, my face had become half its size. Now, one year later, my cheek fat has fully recovered and my facial shape has settled. Friends I meet after a long time ask if I had double jaw surgery. Since I meet a lot of people for work, I chose lingual braces even though I knew they were expensive, but if your job involves a lot of speaking, I wouldn't recommend lingual orthodontics. My pronunciation got really slurred ^^
