<One week - one month - now>(Is this the right place to post this? If not, I’ll upload it again) I think more people than expected are considering nasal implant removal, and many people are curious about autologous dermis. I’ve always just left comments about revision surgery, but I’m posting this in case it can help even a little for those considering dermis.
First of all, this was my third surgery. I had a short nose (the so-called pig nose where the nostrils show) and a wide nasal bridge. My nose was a huge complex for me.. >First surgery (nasal bridge, nasal tip, nasal bridge osteotomy to bring it in, nasal lengthening, lowering the nostrils, tip suturing) Silicone, ear cartilage, septal cartilage, donated cartilage, I guess I had pretty much every surgery possible. I really, really liked it, but contracture symptoms started 6 months later. >Second surgery (nasal bridge, nasal tip, nasal bridge osteotomy to bring it in, nasal lengthening, tip suturing) They reused the existing materials where they could, and I don’t know the exact details.. And instead of donated cartilage, they used autologous costal cartilage.. A scar on my ribㅜㅜ Anyway, they did lower the lifted nasal tip, but contracture + inflammation symptoms appeared even faster. The contracture wasn’t severe, but inflammation kept occurring. It would get better when I took medicine, then flare up again when I drank a lot and got tired, and this kept repeating. Because of severe itching and a bad, musty smell, I endured and endured until I couldn’t take it anymore, so I finally made time and had the implant completely removed.
The hospital told me that it seemed like my body type just didn’t suit implants. They said that when surgery is done, a thin membrane forms around the implant, but in my case that thickness was thicker than other people’s. Because of that, as the membrane gradually thickened, contracture seemed to keep happening... Ha.. despair..ㅜㅜ
After removal, my nose felt unbelievably relieved. I sometimes had pain, stinging, and itching, but I don’t think they lasted long. And then the long-awaited third surgery.. I really thought about it a lot. It had been about a year and a half since implant removal. It wasn’t a face anyone would criticize even if I just lived with it, my boyfriend told me I was pretty, and my parents told me to just live as I was, but it’s about self-satisfaction.. My nose had been a complex for over 20 years, and the time I liked it was brief. I still have more life ahead of me, and if I lived with this nose I’d be stressed and obviously end up slowly looking into hospitals anyway, so I decided to do it while I had the time and chose surgery (it took 2 months to decide).
Personal requests The short nose that was truly my complex only needs to come down a little; as long as my nostrils don’t show as much as now and there are no side effects, that’s enough!!!
Consultation with the director (he said that because I kept getting contracture, he would absolutely not use an implant..) 1. The nasal length needs to be extended, and all the cartilage that can be harvested from the ear would be taken and stacked on the nasal tip like building a tower to lengthen the nose. But the shape would not be pretty, and the nose would not lengthen as much as desired. He said he didn’t really want to recommend it. 2. Instead of an implant, use autologous dermis and proceed in the same way as a typical lengthening method. He said the dermis plays a role in pushing downward(?) when lengthening the nasal tip, so accurate lengthening is possible. However, because absorption has to be considered, overcorrection is needed, so he explained that the shape could look strange for one or two months after surgery, or even longer.
He explained the two methods in great detail, even drawing pictures, and at a glance it was clear that method 2 was the one that could improve what I wanted.. so I thought about it a lot. And so..
>Third surgery: buttock autologous dermis, autologous costal cartilage (opened the same area again), ear cartilage, and he said he would use any remaining septal cartilage if there was some, and that’s how the surgery was done. If you look at the photos asking how it was, you’ll see it was like the photos. I’m very satisfied now!
First, many people are curious about how much autologous dermis gets absorbed. I think this differs by individual, and also by the specialist’s surgical method and style. For those asking if the buttocks hurt, of course it hurts because it’s surgery, but it didn’t hurt as much as I imagined and was just a bit uncomfortable. Going to the bathroom was ridiculously uncomfortable.. Ha.... I really don’t want to think about it^^;; The area where autologous costal cartilage was harvested: I originally have keloids, so when the rib cartilage was first taken, it protruded like a keloid. Explaining that would be long too, but anyway, there is nothing protruding now~ It’s just like one straight line. For those worried about scars, I go to public baths just fine, and I even get scrubbed by the bathhouse scrub lady. I also wear bikinis in summer. People are honestly not interested at all, more than you’d thinkㅎㅎ Ah.. and is anyone worried their boyfriend might find out? In my case, my boyfriend asked, “What happened here..” and I was really flustered. Saying that I had my buttock opened because of nose surgery///// But when I just told him, my boyfriend said, “Wow, you’re something else.”.. It’s for getting prettier, and it’s not in a place that shows easily anywayㅎ
Those who remove implants because of side effects and then have revision surgery must have so many worries.. I hope everyone does well!! Because I changed phones, I don’t have photos from after the nose removal, but if I find them, I’ll try posting them again. When the splint was removed after surgery, I was truly shocked. I looked exactly like the Na’vi from Avatar.. It didn’t come across well(?) in the photos, but if you looked closely, my nasal bridge was higher than my forehead.......;; I can laugh now, but at that time I really didn’t want to meet anyone..
I realized hospital names could be shown in the review section^^;; A lot of people asked for information, so I’m editing this. I had it done at a plastic surgery clinic. A lot of people seem to filter this place out.. I hope this helps even a little.
