Compared with my facial features, my nose is on the high and large side and has a bit of a dorsal hump, so I just kept worrying about it, and finally went for consultations at 4 hospitals! I'm writing this in the hope that it helps people like me haha First of all, my top priority was that it absolutely had to look natural and not obvious at all! I also didn't want the shape of my nostrils to change. I worked hard raising my nose in Photoshop and looked at that raised version in the mirror over and over, but it really didn't suit me and only my nose stood out... So during consultations too, I kept saying: a natural nose! Only shave the hump! Since my nasal tip droops a little, please raise it just a tiiiiny bit. 1. ㅈㅇㅈ There were a lot of people in the cafe who had natural-looking noses done here, so I made an appointment for a weekday morning and went. There was almost no waiting, and it felt the most like a hospital. I had a CT scan and photos taken before the consultation, and both the consultant and director weren't extremely kind, but they felt professional. The consultation was the shortest. They said they would shave the hump and fill the nasal tip with cartilage to lift it slightly, and told me that the nostril shape would inevitably change and the nose would become more glamorous. Because my skin is thin and I want a natural look, they did not recommend silicone, but said that without silicone, the hump area would not become completely smooth. And they told me I absolutely had to have functional surgery. Functional surgery was more expensive than I expected, so the total surgery price was the highest here, but after calculating the reimbursement from private insurance, it was the cheapest, and it felt like they provided a lot of aftercare (2 oxygen treatments, 2 laser treatments, ointment, medication, all included in the surgery fee). They talked as if they could match a natural nose as much as possible, so I was tempted. The director's explanation wasn't detailed or especially kind, but it felt like the consultation ended in just 5 minutes with only the facts. If functional surgery is definitely needed and you want a natural nose, I think it's worth going for a consultation (but I heard rumors that there are many revision surgeries...) 2. ㄷㄷㅇ I went on an acquaintance's recommendation, and as soon as you walk in, you can tell what kind of nose they prefer (very glamorous, high and pointed nose, feminine style). They said private insurance wouldn't cover rhinitis surgery, so I didn't even take a CT scan. Both the consultant and the director treated me the most comfortably and were the kindest among the hospitals I visited. If hospital 1 explained the functional surgery in detail, this place explained the cosmetic aspects of the nose in more detail. For example, they said my facial features are feminine but my nose is masculine, so they would make my nose as feminine as possible. They said a good nose is one that stays pretty for a long time without revision surgery, rather than just being pretty short-term, and that because that means a firm nose, they would use autologous costal cartilage if needed. They said they could decide that only after opening the nose on the day of surgery, and I was a little concerned about that part... I thought it would be better to know the detailed plan beforehand, and I felt reluctant about only finding out after surgery whether autologous costal cartilage had been used or not They said there is a limit to shaving a dorsal hump, so they would shave only a little and raise the nasal tip sharply to match the shaved area. Just like hospital 1, they said that simply shaving the hump makes it difficult to get a smooth line, so they would fill it little by little with cartilage to make it as straight as possible. I liked that they printed my nose photos and drew on them to show what shape they would operate toward. (But no matter how I looked at it, if they raised it like that, my nostrils seemed like they would become straight horizontal lines...) There was none of the natural nose I wanted, and they said it absolutely had to be done by raising the nasal tip a lot, so I passed on this place. The price range was decent, and if you really want a glamorous and pretty nose, I recommend this place. 3. ㅇㅇ To be honest, I heard there was no point unless I went to Director ㅇㅁ, but I was curious so I had a consultation with another director. They say consultations with Director ㅇㅁ are available from April. There were a lot of Chinese tourists too, and quite a few people. If ㄷㄷㅇ openly feels like glamorous noses, this place felt like it prefers glamorous noses with some natural elements added inside. The consultant and director here were also kind! But the person taking the photos and CT wasn't very kind. The nose consultation was the most detailed, and although I said I was worried about a glamorous nose, they ultimately said the only nose I could do was a high nose. I wanted a natural nose without implants, but the director said they would use silicone, donated costal cartilage, and cartilage all together.. lololol Unlike ㄷㄷㅇ, they said making the nasal tip shape rounded would look more natural, and because my glabella is sunken, filling it with silicone would actually look more natural. They also said the nostril shape would inevitably and definitely change. When I asked, "Wouldn't my nose become too big compared with my facial features...?" they said, "It could," so it didn't seem like they were making up things that weren't true. There was a first-surgery discount, so the price range was okay. Since a natural nose is my top priority, I passed on this place, but if your facial features are already defined and you like glamorous noses, I recommend it. 4. ㄹㅂㄹ This place is famous, right?! I saw many posts in the cafe saying the price range is expensive, and the website had a lot of extremely glamorous noses, so I went in worried. The wait was the longest, and getting an appointment was the hardest. Both the consultant and director were extremely kind! (I think every hospital has a different kind of friendliness lol) I took both photos and CT scans, and then had consultations with the consultant and director. When I explained the nose shape I wanted, that I was very worried about a glamorous nose, that I absolutely wanted something natural, and that I hated the idea of my nose becoming too high, the director listened well and suggested options within that. They explained that if the nose is shaved too much it can become like an open roof and sink in, so they don't recommend it, and that if the nasal tip is raised like at the other hospitals, only my nose would stand out too much and it would not suit my face. So they said the most natural and harmonious method would be to shave the hump only slightly and trim the lower part a little rather than raising the nasal tip! I actually wanted a natural nose even if a tiiiny bit of the hump remained rather than a completely smooth nasal bridge, so when I heard this I was kind of moved... If the other hospitals felt like they were recommending a pretty nose that fits aesthetic standards but doesn't suit me, ㄹㅂㄹ felt like they listened well to what I wanted and tried to find a nose that I want and that suits me, and the best possible method in their own way. It turns out they're not only good at glamorous noses! Oh, and they told me functional surgery wasn't really necessary. At ㅈㅇㅈ, they said that if I didn't do functional surgery, breathing would become difficult, but when I mentioned that, they said not at all and that it's better not to do unnecessary surgery. In conclusion, this director felt the most like an expert. I realized that even when shaving the same hump, the fine details within it can differ. So I decided that even if it's expensive, I should go to someone who can do what I want well! I scheduled surgery for mid-December, and I'm curious what life without a dorsal hump (almost) will be like!! haha I hope my post helps people who are considering surgery~
