When did I first feel something was off about my nose? In high school? I didn’t really take many photos in middle school, but once I started wearing makeup and became more interested in my appearance, I naturally started paying more attention to my face. I was also a little obsessive about my appearance at the time. After living like that, once I had saved up some money, I ended up deciding to get nose surgery. I figured there are probably a lot of people like me, so I wrote this even though it’s a hassle, hoping it might help people save even a little on consultation fees or time, especially people from outside Seoul or people who work late and have trouble going for consultations. I went to a total of 5 places, and since the intro got long, I’ll get to the point. [I wanted surgery without implants, and I told them I didn’t want silicone. My nose is a bulbous, low nose. But I don’t want to make it higher; I just want to correct the bulbous nose.] 1. ㅇㅂ They said they would do it the way I wanted. The price was the cheapest, and they also had a lot of review events... Friends aiming for the new school semester could reasonably get it done here. But I had consultations with both the doctor and the director, right? Their opinions were different. The director said my nose needed silicone, while the doctor said it would be fully possible without inserting silicone. But the director’s experience couldn’t be ignored, so after thinking about it, I just ran away. 2. ㅂㅇㅂ (silicone, touching the philtrum? hump sanding) This place was... the moooost expensive.. Was it 6 million won? I was shocked Including advertising, I wondered if this was really a bit much. And while I was going like, “Huh.. uh..,” I talked again with the consultant, and she asked if I wasn’t just going around for consultations.. and suddenly her attitude changed a little..? I think. Maybe she noticed that it was too expensive for me and I wasn’t going to do it. The consultation suddenly ended very quickly. 3. ㅁㅋ (recommended silicone) I went here because people said they were good, but I was really taken aback because the consultant’s bad-mouthing of other clinics was too much. I actually went in thinking, “Wow, the director must be amazing?” But after the consultation, I felt like I just wanted to run away. She kept saying things like this clinic is like this, that clinic is like that, why did you go there... No matter how skilled the doctor is, this kind of consultation method that bad-mouths others and subtly uses people’s psychology isn’t my style, so I didn’t like it. I was just curious about what my surgical method would be and how aftercare would work.. If it were a clinic that was really confident, wouldn’t it have been enough to just praise the director’s skills?.. Maybe because they had a lot of surgeries booked, the consultation with the doctor also went super fast. I clearly said I wasn’t doing silicone, but when he suddenly started explaining the silicone rhinoplasty method, it seemed like he was that distracted... So for now, pass. 4. ㅋㅇ (no implant) For now, I decided on this place, right? Because I told the doctor that every clinic was trying to put in silicone, but I didn’t want it.... And for the first time, he said, “You don’t need to put in silicone. If you want a clean look, then of course it’s true that you should put it in. But if you want a natural-looking nose and you’re scared of side effects and inflammation, just filling it with cartilage is enough. A straight nose won’t be possible, but let’s do a semi-ski-slope nose so it doesn’t become a full ski-slope nose, and keep the nose shape rounded. Your eyes are strong, so if the nose is also too intense, I think your overall impression will be too strong.” It felt like he was trying to balance it with my face. (He said surgery would be difficult because my asymmetry is severe.. but.. hiiing) 5. ㅇㅅㅇ (strongly recommended silicone, corrects asymmetry) This place was a liiittle expensive. But maybe because the director had 10 years of experience, he had charisma. Not in an unfriendly way. More like, “I’m an expert in this field, so listen exactly to what I say.” That kind of feeling?? I didn’t dislike that. Because the way something is said can make all the difference.. yeah. But although the cost was higher than other clinics, he accurately analyzed the issues with my face and said he would take care of them. I liked this place too. But he kept telling me to put in silicone so I just passed.. There are so many clinics just to get one surgery, right? It’s scary, you worry it might go wrong, and you tremble thinking side effects might happen. The nose is the center of a person’s face. Even if it’s hard, it’s better to search diligently. I don’t know, I might end up botched too, but for now I tried hard to write about the places I went to. Since there are really more than 20 clinics to visit for consultations, I hope I’ve reduced that number even a little for someone. And although maybe I’m not the one to say this when I’m getting plastic surgery too, appearance is important, but I hope you don’t hate yourselves. It might sound strange, though.
