When I was 17, I saw my friend come back after summer vacation having gotten double eyelid surgery, and I thought I needed to get it done as soon as possible too. So, with my young mindset, I begged my mom and got double eyelid surgery during winter vacation.
I had it done at ㅇㅇㅈ in Busan. According to a promotional text I received from the clinic a long time ago, the doctor who did my double eyelid surgery had left that clinic and opened another clinic. Even back then, ㅇㅇㅈ was not a large-scale clinic but a small one, so I think the doctor probably opened another small clinic now too.
Anyway, my mom’s friend’s daughter had a really good result, so my mom introduced that clinic to me, and I only remembered the name. Even though I was young, I was firm in my thoughts about plastic surgery, so I held my mom’s hand and went for double eyelid consultations at a total of five places: three large hospitals, one place that was just famous locally, and that clinic as the last one.
The famous place that had huge ads plastered all over the Busan subway somehow did not appeal to me. I was only a high school student, but I did not like the double eyelid lines that looked mass-produced, so in the end I came back to square one and used my acquaintance connection to get surgery at the place I had been introduced to. And the locally famous place recommended posterior canthoplasty and lower canthoplasty to me, so I just ran out as if escaping. I don’t know about now, but 6 years ago, my trust in posterior canthoplasty had hit rock bottom.
Anyway, to get to the point, honestly, the eyes I had done there have now become uneven, but I admit they look natural~ It’s the look I wanted since I was a student. Well, sometimes I regret it because it isn’t glamorous.. but what can I do!
For the first year after double eyelid surgery, I had no idea my eyes would become uneven, so when I was still in school, I introduced that clinic to a close friend. That friend eventually had surgery there too, and hers turned out better than mine lol. My mom’s friend’s daughter also turned out really well. Seeing that, I think plastic surgery ultimately depends on the person, luck, and chance. Maybe it’s because I got plastic surgery without huge expectations from the start. Even when I look at my eyes that have become uneven, I don’t feel like blaming the director. Every time I think about whether I should get revision double eyelid surgery because of the asymmetry, so many of my friends have had double eyelid surgery, and when they see my eyes, they tell me that with eyes like these, I should just be grateful and live with them. So I’m living while believing in just one thing: at least my eyes look natural. I have to comfort myself somehow, I guess. Still, when I look at my old eyes.. I really feel like getting double eyelid surgery was the right choice, so I don’t regret it that much. Even if I do feel regret, I’d rather use the money for revision double eyelid surgery to get surgery somewhere else hehe.
Ah... this got way too long lololol. Maybe because I got it done when I was young, I don’t remember feeling pain after surgery. What I remember most is just that my mom washed my hair for me because I thought I wouldn’t be able to wash it after surgery, and that she drove me all the way to Busan every time, both for surgery and when I went to get the stitches removed, and took care of all the food and everything else.
