It is day 11 since I had facial contouring surgery. I had three procedures: cheekbone reduction / long-curve mandibular angle reduction / V-line osteotomy. After surgery, I had many worries, so whenever there was something I was concerned about, I often asked the consultant by text, and I also made many inquiry posts in this community.
I was extremely worried because of a dark bruise under my chin, hollowness in the cheeks under my cheekbones, and abnormal sensation in my anterior chin. I could definitely feel that my facial line had become softer, but maybe because of the swelling, I could not feel a major change yet, so at night I could not sleep and kept thinking, “Did I really spend all that money to have this surgery for this?”
But what I felt as each day passed was that I was surprised because I was actually getting a little better every single day!
First of all, the bruise under my chin, which I had first asked about in this community because I thought it would never go away, has clearly faded and seems like it will disappear in a few days. I found the hollowness under my cheekbones when I removed the compression tape by myself at home (day 7), and it was really sunken in, so I was honestly so shocked. I had also heard it could be one of the side effects, so I was extremely worried. When I asked the hospital, they said it was still early and would stand out more because of swelling, and that it would improve with time. In this community, some people said it did not come back, and some said it got a little better.. But today, around the evening of day 11, for some reason, the cheek hollowness improved by more than 50%? It was really so sudden that I wondered what was going on.. I thought maybe it was just temporary because I had worn the facial compression band, but even now it is still improved. As time passes, it should get a bit better, right? But really, another amazing thing is that my anterior chin used to feel hard, my mouth felt heavy as if it were tied up, and I had very little sensation in my lower lip and anterior chin area. But amazingly, if you divide my lips vertically in half, sensation has returned to the chin and lip on the right side! It feels like the cheek hollowness and anterior chin sensation, which were major worries on day 11, suddenly recovered a lot, so it is really amazing.. That made me want to write a post, so I am rambling like this haha
I do think facial contouring is truly a major and risky surgery. A lot of various unpleasant symptoms appear after surgery. So for those who are still thinking about it, I think it would be good to consider these points when deciding, and for those who, like me, have not been long since surgery and are worried about many things, I really think it may be good to give it time and wait. I felt that strongly today. Of course, there are also people who do not recover even after a very, very long time.. But since you have already done it, today I feel like if you wait with a positive mindset, maybe there will be good results.
That is the end of my day 11 review! (For reference, the large swelling that made me look severe has gone down a lot, and if I wear a mask, my face does not look swollen. There is still swelling around my cheeks and mouth, so my face is plump like I am holding candy in my mouth.)
