This is the post I wrote a month ago. Already, three months have passed. Now that three months have gone by, I thought I’d post a review.
It has definitely gotten much better than at the one-month mark. Until a little over two months, I had this tight feeling around the boundary between my nose and philtrum? That kind of sensation, but 90% of it is gone. I live abroad, so in the beginning I had an extreme amount of worries and was pretty stressed, but time solved everything.. I worried so much that the consultant listened and worried with me, and I was grateful for that too. When you get surgery, your face feels a bit awkward, you know? An awkwardness only I notice? That lasted for a while, so everyone getting alar base reduction, don’t worry too much. This also varies by person, and there are many people who aren’t like that. For me, swelling lasted a bit long, so my philtrum looked longer for a while. But everything came back, and even though I couldn’t fit a finger into my nose before, now even my little finger fits in haha This is my personal recovery story, and I think my recovery was a bit slow compared with many posts I read.
I like the nose shape the doctor operated on. This has also definitely become more and more natural. The doctor showed me midway and asked, “Should we do only this much?” and I said yes, so I don’t know how many millimeters were reduced, but there is definitely a huge difference compared with how it looked in photos. But people around me have nooooo idea. ㅋㅋㅋ Even someone with good observation skills who had called me bulbous-nosed didn’t notice, so that was kind of surprising.. The biggest thing that bothered me was my nostrils flaring when I smiled, and that has definitely decreased too. I also had the alar rims lifted, so my nose, which looked slightly open/gaping in photos, doesn’t look that way anymore. Should I say it looks a bit more covered? I think lifting the alar rims was the best part. And people say different things, but for me, because alar base reduction makes the nose look gathered?? Because of that optical illusion, it seems to look a bit higher, though some people say it made theirs look lower, so I guess that also depends on the person..
And lastly, the scar..! The incision line is still visible, but what’s interesting is that even the stitch marks that I thought would never go away are getting lighter, so I’m hoping this incision line will gradually improve too. Of course it’s visible from below, but other people have no idea at all. No, ordinary people don’t even seem to imagine that area would be cut in the first place ㅋㅋㅋㅋ And as many people know, it’s hidden by the nose shadow, so it’s even less visible. But I can see it well because I know it’s there lol This community is very negative about alar base reduction, so today... The clinic I went to absolutely never does overcorrection, so as I said last time, I recommend it if you want a natural change. It absolutely won’t become like a clothespin. (But in the beginning, it may look like that? because of swelling.) I’ll upload my photos.
